Apollo Reed doesn’t like women
Grace
As soon as I stepped out of the elevator and into the main hall, people immediately straightened and bowed slightly as I walked
past.
“Good morning, Miss Grace.”
“Good morning, Miss Grace. How was your night?”
“Morning, Miss Grace.”
Voices followed one after another, polite and respectful.
I offered them a small smile, nodding my head lightly as I responded, “Good morning.” My tone was calm.
When I first started working here, the atmosphere had been completely different. People had looked at me with confusion, suspicion, and even fear. To them, I was the sudden heiress who appeared out of nowhere and took a position of authority overnight. They didn’t know what to expect from me. Some avoided eye contact. Some whispered behind my back.
Only a few days passed before everything shifted.
I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t assert dominance. I simply did my job, solved problems, handled crises, and remained calm no matter how chaotic things became. Competence speaks louder than identity. And slowly, their guarded looks turned into respect. Now, whenever I walked past, they greeted me sincerely, not because they were forced to, but because they wanted to.
I walked toward the exit, pushing the glass doors open. The cool air brushed against my face, and I instinctively moved my hair aside as it fluttered in the wind. I slipped my phone out of my pocket, about to call Eleanor, when a playful female voice called
out in front of me.
“Boss lady, would you like a ride somewhere?”
I paused and turned.
Parked just ahead was a familiar car, and leaning casually against it were Eleanor, Wyatt, and the twins.
The moment I saw them, something inside me softened instantly. My expression shifted without me even trying. The composed, distant “Miss Grace” disappeared, replaced by something warmer. It was like my entire demeanor did a complete turn. No matter how much I changed in front of the world, I could never change in front of them. Because they were there during my worst days. And they stayed during my best ones. They were my family.
I smiled.
“Yes,” I said, walking toward them. “I do need a ride.”
The moment Lucas and Liana saw me clearly, their faces lit up.
“Aunt!” they both shouted at the same time.
I opened my arms instinctively. “Come here.”
They ran straight into me, wrapping their small arms around my waist. I hugged them tightly, breathing in that familiar comfort I didn’t even realize I had been missing. I had been so busy lately that I barely had time to see them. Yet whenever I had even a little free time, instead of calling Apollo first, I found myself calling Eleanor, and Wyatt, telling them everything that had been happening.
Liana leaned back slightly, studying me with wide eyes. “Aunt… woah. I almost didn’t recognize you. You look so different.”
Lucas nodded seriously. “Yeah. You look different.”

I chuckled softly. “Do you like it?”
They both nodded eagerly. “We love it!”
My heart felt warm. Eleanor finally stepped forward, clapping her hands lightly. “Alright, alright. Your aunt is busy. She has somewhere to be. You two promised to behave, that’s why I brought you along.”
The twins looked at each other. Lucas pouted slightly. “We just missed her. It’s been a long time since we were together.”
Liana nodded in agreement.
I gently placed my hands on their heads, smoothing their hair. “Don’t worry. I’ll have a break this weekend. I’ll come home, and we’ll spend as much time together as possible. I promise.”
Their eyes sparkled immediately. They nodded excitedly before giving me one last tight hug and running back to the car.
I stood there for a moment, watching them go, my eyes soft. No matter how high I climbed, no matter how powerful and ruthless I became, there were still people who loved me simply because I was me.
Wyatt studied me carefully before finally speaking, his brows slightly drawn together. “Are you sure?” he asked in a low, thoughtful voice. “What about your family, and Apollo? You finally have them back in your life. Don’t waste your time with us when you could be spending it with them.”
Eleanor nodded beside him, even though I could clearly see the hesitation in her eyes, the part of her that selfishly wanted me to stay with them but would never admit it out loud. She had always been like that, placing my happiness above her own desires, even when it meant stepping aside quietly and pretending it did not hurt.
I smiled at the both of them and took a small step closer, gently placing one hand on Eleanor’s shoulder and the other on Wyatt’s arm. “You two seem to have forgotten something very important,”
They looked at me in confusion, their expressions questioning.
“You are my family,” I continued. “You were my family back then when I had nothing, and you will always be my family no matter what changes in my life. Even if I have to shamelessly force myself into your family forever, even if I have to invite myself into every gathering and refuse to leave, you will never be able to get rid of me. No matter how much time passes, no matter where life takes us, you two and the kids will always matter to me more than you think.”
Their gazes softened immediately, emotions flickering across their faces. Eleanor’s eyes grew glossy, and Wyatt cleared his throat before pulling me into a firm hug. Eleanor quickly joined in, wrapping her arms around both of us.
Not long after that, we arrived at the Reed Corporation building.
I stepped out of the car carefully, holding the neatly packed box of food Wyatt had prepared for me. I leaned slightly toward the window and looked at them with a grateful smile. “Thank you for the food,”
“See you later, Aunt!” Liana called out cheerfully, leaning halfway out of her seat. “Say hi to your boyfriend for me.”
Lucas nodded seriously beside her. “And don’t forget the weekend,”
“I won’t,” I promised.
Eleanor looked at me carefully. “Take care of yourself,”
Wyatt added, “Make sure you eat properly. If you’re still hungry later, come to the restaurant and I’ll cook more for you. Don’t skip meals just because you’re busy.”
I laughed quietly. “I’ll definitely come.”
Wyatt held my gaze for a few seconds longer, as if trying to confirm that I truly meant it, before finally driving off. I remained

standing there for a moment, watching the car disappear down the road until it turned at the corner and vanished from sight. Only then did I turn around and face the towering Reed Corporation building.
