I ignored their whispers and walked straight toward the elevator lobby. My steps were unhurried, but the closer I got to the elevators, the more aware I became of the eyes that followed me.

A small group of employees was already standing there, waiting. I moved to stand beside them, ready to wait like everyone else. But the moment I stopped next to them, however, the atmosphere changed completely.

They all turned to look at me at the same time, their eyes widening as if I had suddenly grown another head. The silence stretched awkwardly between us. I had not even opened my mouth to greet them when one of them suddenly cleared his throat and forced a laugh.

Ohwould you look at that,” he said hurriedly. I just remembered I have something urgent to do on the last floor.

Another person immediately chimed in, Me too. I have touhprint something.

Right. Same here.

I forgot a document upstairs.

Within seconds, everyone began finding excuses, each one more unconvincing than the last, until they all scattered in different directions, leaving me standing alone in front of the elevator doors.

I blinked and slowly looked around at the now empty space.

A quiet sigh escaped my lips.

So this was how Apollo felt every time people ran away from him in the elevator lobby. Although, I doubted he ever cared. Apollo was never the type to be bothered by such things. If anything, he probably preferred the silence.

The elevator dinged softly.

The doors slid open, and I stepped inside, pressing the button for the top floor. Just before the doors could close, two familiar figures walked toward it midconversation.

Adien, the head of the PR department. And Sarah, the head of the Sales department.

They were talking casually, but the moment they noticed me inside, both of them froze at the entrance.

I looked at them quietly.

They were the two superiors who had treated me kindly when I was still working here as an ordinary employee. Adien had always been naturally kind, helping without expecting anything in return. Sarah, on the other hand, was sharp and intelligent, but she had always treated me with fairness and respect.

I gave them a small smile and nodded. Good afternoon.

Adien’s eyes widened slightly. He did not move.

Sarah, however, simply stared at me for a few seconds before a slow smile curved her lips. She stepped into the elevator as if nothing was unusual. Nice to see you again, Grace, she said calmly. I didn’t think I would.

I smiled back at her.

Sarah turned her head toward Adien, who was still standing outside the elevator like it was some kind of trap. She crossed her arms and tilted her head. Aren’t you coming in?

Adien looked at me, then atSarah, as if silently asking whether she had lost her mind. But Sarah looked completely relaxed, leaning casually against the wall of the elevator. Her blonde hair framed her face perfectly, and her blue eyes were calm.

Adien finally let out a long sigh. Fine,he muttered. I’ll come in.

He stepped inside and stood stiffly beside Sarah just as the doors closed.

The elevator ride was quiet.

Sarah leaned back with her eyes closed, looking as though she was simply enjoying the ride. Adien, on the other hand, looked visibly nervous, his posture straight and rigid, as if he was afraid of accidentally brushing against mes.

After what felt like a long few seconds, the elevator stopped with a soft ding on the second floor.

The doors opened.

Sarah opened her eyes and pushed herself off the wall gracefully. She turned to me with a faint smile and gave a small wave.See you around, Grace. Let’s meet again sometime.

Of course,I replied.

She walked out without hesitation. Adien stepped forward as well, clearly eager to escape. But just as he was about to cross the

doorway, I spoke.

Wait.

He froze instantly.

Slowly, he turned back to face me, his expression cautious. He sighed as if preparing for judgment. Graceif I offended you in any way before, I apologize. Please forgive me.

I raised an eyebrow slightly. Offended me? Did you do something?

Of course not,he said quickly. But if you think I did, please just forget it. I was your superior once, after all.

I couldn’t help it, I smiled.

This was the same nonchalant department head who did whatever he wanted because he found it fun. Now he looked like a student waiting to be scolded.

I shook my head gently. That’s not why I stopped you.

He blinked. It’s not?

I actually wanted to invite you somewhere.

I reached into my bag, pulled out a neatly designed card, and handed it to him.

When you have time, you should visit the Jones PR Corporation,I said. Many of the employees there admire your campaigns and strategies. You’re something of an idol to them.

Adien stared at the card in his hand, stunned.

And,I added, I could use a familiar face sometimes.

Adien paused at my words, the card still held carefully between his fingers as though it were something fragile. For a brief second, he simply stared at me, as if trying to determine whether I was serious or merely being polite.

Really?he asked.

I nodded without hesitation. And a slow smile spread across his face, the earlier nervousness finally dissolving into something genuine. Thank you,he said sincerely. I’ll visit.

With that, he stepped out of the elevator just as the doors slid shut behind him.

I remained inside, watching the numbers change above the door. A few moments later, the elevator reached the top floor with a

soft chime.

The doors opened.

I stepped out, still holding the food Wyatt had carefully prepared for me. The familiar scent drifted faintly from the container. My eyes swept across the familiar hallway. Nothing had changed, yet somehow, everything felt different. Or maybe it was just me who had changed.

A small smile formed on my lips as I walked toward the reception area.

Chase was seated behind the desk, focused intently on his laptop, his glasses resting low on his nose as his fingers moved quickly across the keyboard.

I knocked lightly against the wall beside him.

He looked up immediately, clearly startled, but the surprise on his face quickly melted into recognition. Grace,he said, his voice filled with warmth.

I smiled back at him.

Normally, he might have reacted like the others, awkward, overly cautious, unsure how to address me now. But Chase had already gone through his phase of shock the day the news broke. Now he treated me the same as before, and I appreciated that more than he probably realized.

He stood up straight. You’re here.

Yes,I replied softly. Is he inside?

Chase nodded. Mr. Apollo is inside. He must be tired after today.
