Pursuing My Rejected Luna novel Skye Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Jaxon
When Noah finds me hours later, still staring at the same legal documents.
“You’re approaching this wrong,” he says, looking over my shoulder to see what I’m reading.
“Then tell me the right approach.”
“Stop trying to trap her here with you.” Noah sits down, his expression serious. “Stop thinking about legal rights and custody battles and how to force her to stay.”
“Then what should I be thinking about?”
“Why she wants to leave in the first place.” Noah leans forward. “And whether you’re willing to actually change to give her a reason to stay.”
“I’m trying-”
“Are you?” Noah’s voice is sharp. “Or are you just going through the motions because you’re afraid of losing control? Jaxon, you’re still treating this like a problem to solve rather than a relationship to fix.” 1
The accusation stings because it’s true.
“I don’t know how to fix it,” I admit. “She won’t talk to me. Won’t listen. Every time I try, she shuts me
down.”
“Because your idea of ‘trying’ is making grand gestures and expecting her to be grateful.” Noah shakes his head. “That’s not what she needs, Jax. She needs you to actually see her. Hear her. Understand why she’s so desperate to leave that she’d plan it while pregnant with your child.”
“She hid the pregnancy from me-”
“Because she knew you’d use it to trap her. And she was right.” Noah stands. “You want her to stay? Stop trying to force it. Start actually listening to what she’s telling you.”
He leaves me with a pat on the shoulder, and I’m alone with the uncomfortable truth of his words.
That afternoon, I’m walking past Skye’s office when I hear her voice.
She’s on the phone. Speaking quietly, like she doesn’t want to be overheard.
I should keep walking. Should respect her privacy. This is definitely one of those things Noah would tell
me not to do.
But I stop and listen anyway.
I know. But I need a few more days to get everything in order… Yes, I’ll call you then… Thank you. For
everything”

She ends the call, and I push open the door before I can second-guess myself.
“Who was that?”
Skye doesn’t even look surprised to see me. Just tired. Like she expected this.
“Does it matter?”
“It matters if you’re making plans to leave while carrying my child.”
“I’m making plans to protect myself and my baby.” Her voice is firm. “That’s what matters.”
“Our baby,” I correct.
“My baby.” She meets my eyes steadily. “You lost the right to claim ownership when you spent three years treating me like an unwanted obligation.”
Her words hit hard, because I can’t deny she’s right. I may not have liked her method of trapping me in a marriage I didn’t choose. But she’s still my mate and I never treated her like one. 1
“Skye, I-” I can’t find the words.
She stands, moving toward the door. “You made it very clear from day one that you didn’t want this bond. Didn’t want me. And now that I’m finally accepting that and moving on, you want to play the devoted
mate?”
“I’m trying to fix things-”
“You’re trying to fix your image,” she corrects.
She walks out, leaving me standing in her office, the truth of her words echoing in the empty space.
That night, after hours of restless pacing and failed attempts to work, I make a decision I’m not proud of.
I need to know who she’s been talking to. Who she’s making plans with.
Skye is in the shower. I can hear the water running through the bathroom door.
Her phone is on the nightstand.
“No. Just…” I can’t finish the lie.
“You went through my phone.” It’s not a question.
“Who is N.W., Skye?”
She doesn’t answer. Just picks up her phone, checks it, then looks at me with an expression that might
be pity.
“You really can’t help yourself, can you? Can’t stand not having control.”
“I have a right to know who my pregnant mate is talking to-”
“You have no rights,” she interrupts. “Not anymore. You gave those up when you spent three years making me feel like I didn’t matter, then moved your ex-lover into our home and claimed her son as your
heir.”
She climbs into bed, turning away from me.
The conversation is over.
But my mind is racing, my wolf howling with jealous fury.

Nicolai Woolf is involved in this. Somehow. Some way.
And I need to figure out what he’s offering her that’s worth leaving everything behind.
Before it’s too late to stop it.
