Pursuing My Rejected Luna novel Skye Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Skye
I stare down at Jaxon kneeling on our bedroom floor, and I don’t know what to feel.
Anger? Vindication that he’s finally admitting he was wrong? Exhaustion at the thought of trying again?
All of the above?
I just agreed to give him a chance. Said the words out loud. And now I have to figure out what that actually means.
Jaxon stands slowly, his eyes never leaving my face. Searching for something-hope, maybe, or
forgiveness I’m not sure I can give.
“Thank you,” he says quietly. “For this chance. I know I don’t deserve it.”
“No,” I agree. “You don’t.”
He flinches, but doesn’t argue.
“I’m going to give you space,” he says. “Like you asked. But Skye? I meant what I said. I’m going to try. Really try.”
“We’ll see.”
He nods once, then leaves, closing the door quietly behind him.
And I’m alone.
I sink onto the edge of the bed, pressing my hands to my face.
What did I just agree to?
Giving Jaxon time. Another chance. After three years of coldness and neglect and outright cruelty.
I don’t believe it will work. Can’t believe it after everything.
But I need to do this. For two very specific reasons.
First: When I walk away-and I will walk away-I need to know I tried everything. That I gave this marriage every possible chance. No regrets. No what-ifs. Just the certainty that I did my best and it still wasn’t enough.
Second: When it comes to custody hearings, I’ll have proof. Documentation that I gave Jaxon time to change. That he agreed not to fight the divorce if I still wanted to leave. That I was reasonable, patient, willing to work on our marriage even after he spent three years destroying it. 3
It’s strategic. Self-protective. 1
And maybe just maybe-a tiny part of me wonders what would have happened if he’d been like this

“I need to know about you and Cassandra.”
“Skye-”
“I don’t mean before we mated. I mean all the time you spent with her when she first returned,” I continue, keeping my voice level. “The nights you didn’t come to bed. The way you dropped everything whenever she called.” I pause. “You’re asking me about Nicolai. I’m asking you about her. If we’re being honest, let’s be completely honest.”
“Is that enough?” He leans forward slightly. “Honesty? After everything?”
“I don’t know,” I say truthfully. “But it’s a start.” 1
