When Victoria was brought up, Donald just waved it off. “Same as before. The Binder family’s in just as much chaos as we are. The two brothers are tearing each other apart over the inheritance.

“After the accident, I heard Curtis ended up in a coma because of Victoria. They’re way more desperate to deal with her than we are. Whether she’s really got skills or not, there’s no way she can treat Jackson without getting hurt.

“Let’s not stir up any more trouble and make more enemies for ourselves.”

Cassian felt a bit more at case after hearing that. “Yeah, that’s the best outcome.”

It was nine o’clock at night, after dinner.

After her glamorous new stepmom left, Victoria used her phone to check the surveillance cameras in her villa room, keeping an eye on what Blackie and the others were doing.

But soon, a strange noise came from the surveillance feed. Blackie, Whitey, and Greenie immediately perked up, alert and cautious, and quickly scattered to hide in different corners.

Victoria’s eyes were full of vigilance as she stared at the screen.

Before long, a figure appeared at her window.

Victoria arched her eyebrow as she watched the scene unfold.

‘What the hell is this?‘ she thought.

The intruder was decked out in a tight black suit and a baseball cap, face completely hidden.

He slipped in through the window, then started rifling through her stuff, lingering the longest at the cabinet where she kept all her medicine bottles.

Victoria caught on fast. ‘So Simon’s got someone trying to swipe the antidote, huh?‘

‘Guess Simon’s really losing it, stooping to this kind of trick,‘ she thought.

With Victoria out of the house because of the accident, it was the perfect opportunity for someone to sneak in.

Victoria called out softly, “Whitey.”

The thief digging through her stuff froze at the sound of a woman’s voice in the dark. Before he could even react, Whitey had already sunk his teeth into the guy’s ankle.

Soon enough, the thief scrambled out the window, his face twisted in terror.

Blackie’s venom was deadly, almost guaranteed to kill on the spot, but Whitey’s poison wasn’t fatal. It just made the nerves go numb little by little.

Victoria turned off the surveillance feed and let out a mocking laugh. ‘Since Simon’s so desperate for the antidote, it’s about time I give him a little hope–just so I can watch him go from hope to despair,‘ she thought.

After Jackson’s engagement party, she’d show up again at the biggest auction house in Benwig City, so Simon could track down the infamous “poison doctor.”

Simon was stuck at the office late, nerves stretched tight as he waited for any word. The whole night, he couldn’t settle down, not knowing if the plan to steal the medicine had worked or not.

When his phone finally rang, he was so on edge he didn’t even check the caller ID before answering.

“Well? Did you get it?” Simon asked.

His assistant sounded awkward on the other end. “It didn’t work. The thief said there was a poisonous snake in the house. It bit him, and he barely escaped with his life.”

Simon was stunned. “A poisonous snake? Are you sure?”

His assistant said, “Yes. He said it was a little white snake. Good thing he was quick on his feet and managed to get out. He’s at the hospital getting the venom out now. He said he’s done with this job.

“It’s just way too dangerous. Forget about the big payout you offered; he could’ve died out there. So he told me to tell you, Mr. Binder, to find someone else,” the assistant replied.

Simon couldn’t believe it. ‘Victoria actually keeps a poisonous snake in her room?‘ he thought. ‘She’s a total lunatic. A complete psycho.’

“Got it. Tell him I’ll cover his medical bills,” Simon said, utterly exhausted by all of Victoria’s bizarre antics.

“Alright, Mr. Binder, do you want me to find someone else?” the assistant asked tentatively.

“No need,” Simon replied, his face growing serious again.

‘So in the end, my only option is to track down that poison doctor Alexis White mentioned at the auction house. There’s literally no other way left, Simon thought bitterly.

He had no choice but to have someone keep watch at the auction house every single day. He had to catch that poison doctor, no matter how long it took.

“Starting today, send someone to the biggest auction house in Benwig City every day. Keep an eye out for anyone selling rare medicinal herbs. If you spot anything, let me know right away,” Simon ordered.

“Got it, Mr. Binder,” the assistant replied.

After hanging up, Simon slumped back in his office chair, spinning it around as he stared out at the night through the floor- to–ceiling windows. He let out a deep sigh.

The more he dealt with her, the more he realized he’d been wrong. His whole family had been wrong. Victoria was far more troublesome than they’d ever imagined.

But now, it was too late to turn back.

Simon thought, ‘If only I hadn’t sent someone after Victoria that day Curtis came to me complaining, and instead had someone keep an eye on her first, maybe there would’ve been a slim chance to fix things.

‘Whatever. It’s already a mess. Regret won’t fix anything now.

Just like Victoria said, it was kill or be killed now. There was no room for hesitation.

He had to get the poison out of his system, then go all out to crush Victoria, snap her backbone, wipe out her edge, and make sure she stayed down for good.

After pulling himself together, Simon didn’t feel like going home. Instead, he suddenly wanted to check on Curtis, so he left the office and drove straight to the hospital.

It was eleven at night.

When it was Angelica’s turn to take over the night watch, Julia urged her quietly, “Angelica, whatever it takes, you have to secure that only son from the Cooke family.

“If what she said is true, and the pharmaceutical company ends up under your uncle’s control in six months, and the Cookes agree to work with him, our whole family will be left out in the cold.”

Angelica nodded. “Mom, I promise you right now. If I can’t win over Oliver, I’ll leave the Binder family myself.”

She thought, ‘Yeah, right. If I can’t get Oliver on board, the Binder family is going to be completely turned upside down.

‘My adoptive parents and their whole clan will lose all their status, and who knows how much leftovers they’ll be able to scrape from that old geezer in the Binder family.

If she did

bail from the Binder family then, she’d end up just as down–and–out as the rest of them.

Anyway, before things went completely south, she’d use this window to snag a rich guy and just marry into the good life.

“And tonight, when you talk to Curtis, absolutely don’t bring up the old man giving Victoria any shares, got it?” Julia said, grinding her teeth in anger at Victoria’s advice.

Angelica was annoyed inside, but kept her sweet, obedient face and nodded. “Yes, Mom, I get it.”

“Damn Victoria! She wrecked my son and still wants to cash in. If Curtis doesn’t wake up, I’ll make her pay, whatever it takes. She can get all the money she wants, but she won’t live to spend a dime.” Julia cursed as she stormed out of the hospital

room.

After sending off the furious Julia, Angelica closed the hospital room door with a sour expression. She walked over to the bed, glaring at Curtis. Honestly, the more she looked at him, the more irritating he seemed.

Angelica sneered, “Heh, Curtis, did you know? Your parents were fuming at Victoria today. They went to confront that little bitch, but turns out there was surveillance footage from Mimiburg showing you messing with her brakes.

“To make it up to her, your grandpa handed over 10% of the pharmaceutical company and 30% of Brightstar Entertainment as compensation.”
