Curtis had just been mocked in front of everyone. His face tightened with anger, and he could barely keep that smile on. After a long moment, he finally forced his anger down and sat.

Darell frowned. “Victoria, stop this nonsense.”

Victoria didn’t even look at him. “Uncle Darell, I’m not your daughter. It’s not your place to lecture me, is it?”

The way she addressed him made Darell’s face darken at once.

Julia forced an awkward smile. “Victoria, your dad and I know we were wrong. We apologize to you right now. Stop being mad at us and come sit with your brother.”

Victoria answered without a hint of politeness, “Aunt Julia, can’t you understand what I’m saying?”

Curtis couldn’t take it anymore. “Victoria! They’re your real parents. Show some respect when you speak.”
