Chapter 10
Hearing that, Victoria stepped right onto the bags. “Yeah. What’s so special atwest these cleahes I don’t anally bother with stuff like this.”
Her mind was always on her work. Clothes were just extras to her. She wore what the occasion required, and when it sufer matter, she went for whatever felt comfortable. Designer brands meant nothing to her
After saying that, she turned to head downstairs.
Just then, Angelica said in a low voice that only Victoria could hear, “Victoria, do you really think Mom and Dad would have brought you back to the Binder family if it weren’t for me?”
Victoria stopped and turned to look at her. “Oh? You’re not even pretending anymore?
Angelica lifted her chin, pride written all over her face. “Do you know why they brought you back?
“Why?” Victoria asked, as if she had no idea.
“Because I don’t want to marry Jackson, that cripple. Mom and Dad can’t stand the thought of my future being ruined, so they want you, their real daughter, to take my place.
‘Don’t you think that’s kind of pathetic?” She let out a soft, fake sigh when she finished.
Victoria’s eyes lit up instead. “That’s a good thing, isn’t it? The Thornton family is one of the top families. I’d be more than happy to marry Jackson.”
Angelica froze. She had expected hurt, or maybe her.
ver. But there was nothing. Her mockery fell on deaf ears, and it irritated
Still, she thought Victoria was just putting on a tough act. “Good? Don’t you know he’s crippled now?”
‘Oh? Crippled?” Victoria leaned in slightly. “That’s fine. I can fix his legs.”
Her voice dropped, calm but sharp. “And since you’re backing out because of that, don’t come crying later when he’s walking again.”
Then she suddenly changed the subject. “Oh, right. That fugitive last night. You hired him, didn’t you?
Angelica’s expression shifted at once.
Victoria shook her head with a small sigh. “Useless. Just like you.” Her tone turned colder. “You should be careful. I’ll pay you back slowly for what you gave me last night.”
With that, she hummed a tune and walked downstairs, light and carefree.
Angelica clenched her fists, staring at her back. The more she looked, the darker her eyes became.
After a long moment, she turned around, picked up the trampled bags, and followed downstairs.
“Victoria, come take a look. Which ones do you like? What size do you wear?” Daisy held a tablet and looked up as Victoria
came down.
She added, “Pick a few for tonight. I’ll have the shop send them over so you can try them first. Tomorrow, I’ll take you shopping myself.”

Angelica, standing behind them, saw everything. Her fingers tightened around the bags before the forced a sende ‘**** going then.”
“Okay,” Hector answered flatly.
Daisy only glanced up and nodded. She didn’t say a word.
Victoria turned and gave Angelica a bright smile. “You really shouldn’t come back just to embarrass yourself
Angelica left Goldenwood Villa with that stiff smile still on her face.
After she was gone, Daisy asked, “What did she say to you?”
Victoria looked down at the clothes on the tablet. “Nothing much. Just trying to provoke me. She said they brought me back to replace her and marry Jackson, that cripple.”
Daisy froze and looked at Hector. The usual gentleness in her eyes was gone, replaced with anger. “Darell and Julia really meant it. They’ve gone too far.”
Hector wrapped an arm around her shoulders and said softly, “Don’t worry. Victoria is our daughter now. I won’t let her marry Jackson in place of their adopted daughter.”
Daisy nodded. “You’re right.”
But then Victoria said calmly, “Dad, Mom, I’m willing to marry Jackson.”
Both of them froze. “What did you say?”
Victoria repeated firmly, “I’m willing to marry Jack
Daisy snapped out of it, her voice turning anxious. “Victoria, you just came home. You don’t understand the Thornton family yet.
‘Before this, Jackson was the man every girl in Benwig City dreamed of marrying But last month, he had an accident. Both his legs are paralyzed now. He may never stand again.”
Victoria smiled, completely unconcerned. “I know. It’s fine. I’m good with medicine. I’m confident I can heal him.”
Daisy looked at her, wanting to say something but holding back. After a long pause, she sighed and said, “Let’s not talk about this for now. Pick your clothes first.”
“Did she not want the clothes?” Julia saw the dirty bags in Angelica’s hands and immediately guessed what had happened. A trace of displeasure showed in her eyes.
Angelica gave a bitter smile, her eyes a little red. “Yeah. She still won’t accept me.”
“She’s so ungrateful.” Curtis frowned. “Angelica, you don’t need to lower yourself to please her anymore. It’s not worth it.”
Angelica shook her head gently. “I just don’t want everything to fall on you. I don’t want to add to your pressure.”
Curtis’s expression softened right away, full of indulgence. “Don’t say that. Protecting you is my responsibility. From now on, don’t do things like this.

“Mom, Dad, and I are the ones who insisted you stay. You don’t need to care about her attitude.
Julia added impatiently, “She really doesn’t know what’s good for her.”
Darell said in a serious tone, “That’s enough. We’ll see how she acts at dinner tonight.”

In the Binder family’s dining room, everyone sat in their seats, waiting for Calvin.
Aside from him, Daisy and Victoria hadn’t arrived yet.
Curtis checked the time. “Uncle Hector, what time is it? Why aren’t Aunt Daisy and Victoria here yet?”
Hector explained, “Daisy got Victoria a couple of new outfits. They came a bit late. She’ll be here after she changes.”
Darell spoke up, his tone edged with dissatisfaction. “Hector, that’s not very fair. Victoria is Julia and my daughter. She’s just upset right now. You’re not seriously planning to adopt her, are you?”
Hector replied casually, “Victoria is serious. She already asked her grandfather to handle the adoption paperwork.”
Darell frowned. “Hector, Dad was just angry earlier. He wouldn’t really go that far. Julia and I thought it over after we got back. Victoria just came home. We shouldn’t have pushed her so hard.
“For now, we’ll let her have her way. Once she spends more time with the Binder family and sees how kind Angelica is, they’ll get along.”
Hector glanced at him, a hint of helplessness in his eyes. “Darell, if you still think she’s just upset, then she’ll never accept you.”
Right then, Victoria and Daisy walked in together. Everyone at the table turned to look.
Victoria was wearing an orange dress that made her look bright, confident, and impossible to ignore.
Remembering what his parents had said, Curtis pushed down his dislike. He stood up, waved at her, and forced a smile. ‘Victoria, come over here. I saved you a seat.”
