Darell came downstairs and stood his ground, staring Hector down without flinching. Hector, what the hell are you doing barging into my house in the middle of the night?

Hector didn’t reply right away. He moved toward Darell, each step steady and powerfulhis presence so intense, it sent chills down Darell’s spine.

Julia had never seen Hector look so menacing before. A wave of fear washed over her, and she instinctively clutching Darell’s pajama sleeve, her voice quivering as she called, Darell

reached out,

Yet Darell stood his ground, spine straight and unwavering, locking eyes with Hector as he approached, showing not the slightest trace of fear.

Hector stepped right up to Darell, his voice cold: I’m here to show you exactly what I’m going to do.”

All of a sudden, Darell felt a piercing agony rip through his abdomen. His eyes flew open, shock written all over his face.

He glanced down. There was a knife plunged deep into his gut.

Hector, youDarell forced his head up, trying to speak, but the pain shattered his words into fragments.

Hector watched Darell in agony, then pulled the knife out, catching him with one hand as he nearly collapsed. Leaning in, his

slips almost brushing Darell’s ear, Hector spoke in a voice so cold it sent shivers down Darell’s spine, Now do your understand why I showed up at your house in the dead of night?

His tone was as chilling as the abyssutterly emotionless, like it came straight from the underworld.

It wasn’t until blood dripped from the knife onto the floor, splattering into gruesome pools, that the horror of what had just happened finally hit Julia.

She slapped a hand over her mouth and screamed, Oh my God! Hector, what are you doing?

With what little strength he had left, Darell shoved Hector away and pressed his hands hard against his wound, trying desperately to staunch the bleeding.

He never imagined his own brother, Hector, would actually stab him. He never saw it coming.

Hector gripped the knife, his gaze cold as ice as he glared at Darell. Daisy’s missing. Was it you? Did you send someone after her?His voice was chillingly flat. If she so much as gets a scratch, I’ll make you pay for it a hundredfold.

Darell felt his strength draining away, too weak to even get a word out.

Julia rushed to steady him, her voice frantic and shaking. Hector! Daisy’s missing, but do you even have any proof that it was Darell? How can you just go straight for him like this?

Simon, panicking, tried to step forward, but was stopped by Hector’s bodyguards.

Don’t play dumb. I know exactly what you did, and so do you,Hector said, his voice icy. This stab is just a warning. If you dare touch Daisy again, next time, I won’t think twice about coming for your whole family.” With that, Hector turned and strode out of Silverwood Villa, the bloody knife still in his hand.

Seeing blood still seeping from Darell’s wound, Julia panicked. Simon, hurry! Go get the doctor. We need to stop the bleeding and get your dad treated!

Simon snapped out of it and dashed off to call the Binder family doctor.

After leaving Silverwood Villa, Hector didn’t return to Goldenwood Villa. He got into his car and sat there for a while, letting the minutes tick by.

He tossed the bloody knife aside and buried his face in his hands, rattled by what he’d just done.

When Victoria called to tell him Daisy had been kidnapped, Hector was so worried he could barely breathe. There was no way to describe the panic that gripped him.

He’d let his guard down.

He never once imagined his own brother would ever hurt his sisterinlaw.

If Victoria hadn’t been on alert, Daisy would’ve had her ring finger cut offthe one wearing the wedding band Hector gave her.

Once he’d managed to calm himself down, Hector was about to hit the gas and drive off, but then something crossed his mind, and he paused.

He got out of the car without a second thought and walked over to Goldenwood Villa.

Victoria sat on the her bed, gently petting Greenie, who was curled up beside her.

Maybe they picked up on her mood, because even Blackie and Whiteywho usually kept to themselves and only showed up when there was work to dowere snuggled up to Victoria just like Greenie.

Victoria had just gotten a call from Mara, who told her that her cool new dad didn’t go off to bed with her pretty new mom. Instead, he headed straight back to Silverwood Villa.

She’d been standing by the window, watching everything unfold at Silverwood Villa through her binoculars, and now she totally got what her cool new dad was up to.

For a brief moment, Victoria felt a pang of guilt, thinking that her arrival had disrupted the peaceful life her pretty new mom and cool new dad once had.

Just as she was deep in thought, a knock sounded at the door, and her cool new dad called out from the hallway.

Victoria, are you asleep?

Victoria’s hand paused midmotion. She glanced up, startled, at the closed door.

It took her a moment to come back to herself. She hopped off the bed and hurried to open the door, not even bothering with her shoes. Looking up, she saw her cool new dadtall and broadshoulderedstanding there, and she caught a faint whiff of blood lingering on him.

Dad, it’s so late. Shouldn’t you be with Mom? Did you come to see me for something?Victoria asked, a bit puzzled.

For some reason, Victoria suddenly felt a little scared inside. She was worried her cool new dad might say he regretted making her his daughter.

Hector looked at Victoria, catching that hint of nervousness in her eyes. He was honestly relieved he’d come back to see how she was doing.

No matter how tough Victoria acted, it was only because life had forced her to be strong. After twenty years of hardship, she

had no choice. But deep down, she was still just a girl in her early twenties, and even she got freaked out sometimes, like right now.

With that in mind, Hector gently patted her head.

Your mom’s safe now, Victoria. Tonight, it’s all thanks to you,he said softly.

Victoria hesitated, guilt flashing in her eyes. If it weren’t for me, Mom wouldn’t have

Hector spoke softly, cutting her off. Victoria, don’t think like that. The moment your mom and I claimed you as our own, you became our daughter. There’s no way a daughter could ever drag her parents down. No matter what happens, it’s our job as parents to shoulder whate comes your way.

Victoria froze, wanting to say something, but her throat felt tight, and she just couldn’t get the words out.

Hector continued, Don’t worry about it. No matter what happens, your mom and I just want you to be happy here with us. We never want you to regret your choice to come back.

Victoria was so moved by his words that she could barely hold back her tears. She nodded softly, Yeah.

Hector withdrew his hand and smiled gently at her. Alright, get some rest tonight. I know you’ve got a lot ahead of you tomorrow. Whatever you set your mind to, your mom and I will always be here for you. We’ll support you, no matter what.

Victoria grinned. Dad, I don’t think I’ve ever told you how handsome you are.

Hector curled his fingers and cleared his throat, looking a little embarrassed. If I weren’t handsome, your mom wouldn’t

have gone for me.

He suddenly started showing off.

Okay, Dad, hurry up and go be with Mom,Victoria prompted him.

Alright,Hector nodded and headed out.

Victoria watched her cool new dad walk out of Goldenwood Villa, lingering for a moment before quietly heading back to her

room.

Just then, the doorbell suddenly chimed.
