Victoria snickered, her hands never pausing as she worked the needles. “Alright, after I drop off Master Leon tomorrow, I’ll be waiting to see your show.”

Two hours later, the treatment was over.

“Stay for lunch before you head back,” Victoria said as she pulled the silver needles from Jackson’s legs.

Jackson was just about to say yes when his phone started ringing.

He glanced at the caller ID, it was Donald.

Victoria didn’t interrupt him. Instead, she packed up her needle case, stood up, and turned to the three little snakes curled up on the bed. “When you hear my whistle, you guys head downstairs to meet someone.”

Greenie was the first to slither up, tilting his head in confusion. Blackie and Whitey exchanged glances.

Meanwhile, Jackson answered the call. “Yeah, what do you want?”

“Sibley’s getting out of the hospital today. You took back the place Cassian set up for her, didn’t you?” Donald asked.

Victoria snorted. “You’re stuck on all these rules. Getting an excuse is easy, just go home and punch him as soon as you see him. If your grandpa asks, tell him a fortune teller said Donald gave Thornton family bad luck for the whole year.”

Jackson was momentarily stunned, then his smile bloomed. “Alright, I’ll do it your way.”

Inside the city hospital room, after being hung up on, Donald glanced at Sibley lying on the bed. He steeled himself, then coldly dialed Faye’s number.

Back at his son’s engagement party with Victoria, after Cassian was taken away, Faye had pulled him aside and said, “If you ever need anything, just let me know.”

Of course, Donald knew Faye was up to no good.

But Jackson wouldn’t give him any respect. He not only cut off his money, but had Cassian snatched away, and just had to investigate if Cassian was really his brother.

Benny had already pulled out a chair and sat down at the table. “Mr. Thornton really is something else, always so proper and formal when you talk.”

After sitting down, he pulled out the chair next to him. “Come on, sit by me.”

But before he could finish, Jonah plopped himself right into the seat.

Then, grinning, he turned to Victoria. “You just finished treating Jackson, so you must be exhausted. We’ll leave you be, let Jackson pile your plate up with meat so you don’t go hungry.”

Victoria caught the jealous glares from the other four uncles, barely holding back her laughter as she nodded. “Alright, Uncle Fandy.”

Victoria grinned, picked up her bowl, and flashed Jackson a sweet smile. “Thanks, honey.”

And just like that, Jackson started his mission of piling up her plate with food.

Daisy and Hector exchanged a knowing smile.

After lunch, Victoria turned to Leon. “Master Leon, before I take you home, let me show you a little surprise.”

With that, she gave a sharp whistle toward the upstairs.
