Chapter 198
‘Dead hands? Annie laughed. “Obviously, I’ve got the Jokers in my hand.”
‘Stop trying to talk sense into her. She won’t believe it until she’s faced with the truth,” one of them scoffed.
‘Let’s just sit back and watch her get slapped in the face,” another chimed in.
After those people left, scoffing, Annie looked at the takeout bag in her hand. Just as she was about to throw it away, she hesitated and kept it.
Fine, whatever, Annie thought. ‘Since Gavin actually acted like a real man for once, I guess I won’t let this takeout go to
waste.
After Sophie brought Gavin to the car, she eyed the scrapes on his face with a teasing grin. “Nice going, Gavin! Playing the hero for a damsel in distress, except the damsel is totally imaginary. Victoria isn’t even here, but look at you, already itching o stand up for her.”
Gavin’s expression darkened. He shot Sophie an annoyed look and grumbled, “Can you stop? Mind your own business.”
Sophie just snickered, refusing to let up. “So now you don’t even want to hear it? As if I care for you. Anyone can see I’m just roasting you.”
Gavin was at a loss for words. After a moment, he finally snapped, “Can you just shut up and stop running your mouth?” He then turned away in a huff, ignoring Sophie.
However, Sophie just arched her brow, clearly messing with him, and drawled, “Hey, this is my car. I can say whatever I want.”
Hearing this, Gavin, fuming, reached for the car door handle, making as if to open it and get out. “Fine, I’ll just get out then!” he snapped.
But just as he was about to step out, Sophie suddenly warned, “Go ahead, if you’ve got the guts. The moment you step out of my car, Nathan’s crew will make sure you never use your hands again.”
Gavin froze, his anger still simmering, but he had to admit Sophie’s warning wasn’t just empty talk. After all, Nathan wasn’t a
saint.
Thinking about it, Gavin glanced at Nathan and his pack of bodyguards coming out of the bar. He hesitated for a moment, then finally closed the door, let go of the handle, and reluctantly sank back into his seat.
“Roddy, start the car,” Sophie instructed her chauffeur.
As the car started moving, Sophie glanced at her grumpy, dumb brother and said, “Seriously, are you that obsessed with
Victoria?
“You used to be a workhorse with no status, but now you’re a real heir of the Fairbank family, my brother. You could have any woman you want. Why are you so dead set on her?”
“No woman is Victoria!” Gavin snorted and said. He then added, “No man loves you; of course you wouldn’t understand how
I feel.
Sophie smacked him on the head. “Watch your mouth. You think you can talk to me like that?”

No man loves me? Seriously? Sophie thought to herself. It’s just that no man dares to pursue someone like m
Gavin rubbed his head, still a bit dazed from the smack. “Okay, gentlemen, don’t fight with women

‘Honestly, that girl from the Thornton family is not bad. I saw her fussing over you earlier. If you’re really that lonely. maybe I could hook you up with her…” Sophie said.
Gavin cut her off right away. “Forget it! I tried pulling that stunt before, using another girl to make Victoria jealous, hoping she’d care about me. In the end, I ended up making a mess of things
Sophie rolled her eyes. “I’m not saying to use someone else to get under Victoria’s skin. I’m saying you should actually try lating another girl. Who knows, maybe you’ll figure out why you’re so hung up on Victoria in the first place.”
Savin, clearly annoyed, just shut his eyes and refused to say another word. Seeing this, Sophie sighed inwardly, giving up on rying to reason with this stubborn mule.
Annie had just left the bar and gotten into her car when her phone started ringing. Seeing it was Jackson calling, she picked ip right away.
ackson’s voice came through, gentle and worried. “Annie, are you okay? I didn’t see your message earlier. I already had a riend nearby go check on you…
I’m fine now,” Annie said, filling Jackson in on everything that had happened at the hotel. Worried that he might be upset. he quickly added, “Don’t worry, Jackson. I didn’t tell Victoria about Gavin getting into a fight for her.”
ackson replied softly, “Even if you did, it’s no big deal. I feel sorry you almost got dragged into trouble.”
Annie shrugged it off. “It’s no big deal. I did it on my own. But Jackson, if we don’t deal with Bater soon, he’s always a threat o Victoria…”
I know. Just leave Bater to me,” Jackson said.
Alright!” Annie replied.
After hanging up, Annie felt totally at ease. With Jackson handling it, she knew this was in the bag. Bater’s toast, Annie hought to herself.
The following afternoon, Victoria was driving into Benwig City. She was planning to head straight to Thornton Group to give Jackson treatment, but her glamorous mom called.
Victoria, when you get back to Benwig City, go home and see your grandpa first. He has something important to discuss with you. I guess it’s about the company’s share transfer,” her mother said.
‘Okay,” Victoria replied. She thus spun the wheel, switching up her route and speeding straight toward the Binder family
estate.
Not long after, her car rolled smoothly into the Binder family’s garage. Victoria hopped out, crossed the courtyard, and headed straight for Calvin’s place in the back of the house.
From a distance, she could already see Milton waiting by the door. As she walked up, he greeted her with a warm smile. “Miss Binder, Mr. Binder is expecting you in the study. Please follow me.”
“Alright,” Victoria replied, nodding as she followed Milton to the study. She reached out and gently pushed the door open..

The study was bright and spacious. Calvin sat upright behind his desk, and next to him was a middle–aged lawyer in a suit and glasses.
When Victoria walked in, Calvin gave her a gentle smile and waved her over. “Victoria, you’re here. The law er has drafted the share transfer agreement. Just sign, and it’ll officially take effect.”
As he spoke, he pushed the paperwork across the desk to her. Victoria picked up the agreement and read it carefully. After confirming there were no issues, she took up a pen and signed it.
When all the paperwork for the share transfer was done, Calvin suddenly asked, “Was it you who did that to Bater?”
“Huh?” Victoria looked confused. Seeing her reaction, Calvin guessed she hadn’t seen the news yet.
Looks like she hasn’t seen the news, Calvin thought. “Go check the trending topics on X; you’ll see what I mean,” he said.
