Chapter 20
The man standing in front of Victoria looked about twenty–five or twenty–six. He bore a faint resemblance to Curtis in his eyes, but while Curtis had a wild, reckless air about him, this man seemed cold and sharp
If Victoria guessed right, this was Simon, the eldest son of the Binder family.
She didn’t bother looking at him again. Instead, she lowered her head and continued to spread the herbs out in the sun
“Yeah. I’m Victoria, the Binder family’s real daughter,” she said. “But since you came looking for me, you should already know I’m not your sister anymore. What do you want?”
Simon watched her pick through the herbs as if he weren’t worth a proper glance. Now he understood. Curtis hadn’t exaggerated. She really was this arrogant.
“You know who I am, and this is how you act, huh?” Simon held back the anger rising in his chest, forcing his voice to stay
even.
Victoria finally looked up at him. Her eyes were cold, full of mockery. “Given the way your whole family behaves, I’d treat your parents the same way if they showed up. What kind of attitude were you expecting?”
A dangerous chill emanated from Simon. He realized then there was no point trying to be polite with her.
“I’ve been away on business,” he said coldly. “I just got back today. Curtis told me that the moment you came home, you tried to drive Angelica out of the Binder family. Yesterday, you even slapped her. Is that true?”
As he spoke, he stepped forward and planted his foot right onto the herbs Victoria had just laid out. He pressed down hard. grinding them under his shoe until they turned into a creed, sticky mess.
Victor
Is stilled. She slowly raised her head. Her eyes sharpened, cutting straight into him.
Simon met her gaze without flinching, challenging her as if she weren’t worth worrying about.
Victoria rose to her feet, calm and steady. She didn’t answer his question. Instead, sh
Simon frowned slightly at her fearless stare, his voice cold. “What?”
I’m giving you a chance to put those herbs back the way they were.” Her voice was calm.
Simon froze for a second, then let out a short laugh. “Curtis was right. You really don’t know your place.”
He thought the idea of putting crushed herbs back the way they were sounded ridiculous.
Then his expression turned cold again. “And what if I don’t?”
As he spoke, he lifted his foot and stomped down on another plant.
Victoria didn’t stop him. She only asked, her tone distant, “Do you know how much those two herbs were worth?”
“They’re just weeds,” Simon said coldly. “Worth nothing. Just like you.”
“At least 15 million dollars,” Victoria said. “Each of those would start at three million dollars at the auction house in Benwig City.
“And today at noon, your mother came to me with three million dollars, thinking that was enough to make me accept you as
Low Thena million dollars means less to me than one of my herbs.

Simon’s eyes darkened. ‘I didn’t come here to listen to your nonsense
Victoria didn’t stop. “So how are you going to pay me back? Cash or transfer?”
“Victoria!” Simon snapped.
“You don’t want to pay, huh?” She ignored Simon’s fury and looked him up and down. Fine. If you won’t pay money, then you’ll have to pay some other way.
“The foot you used to crush my herbs will do. Though honestly, I’m not sure one foot is worth that much.”
Simon was furious. He grabbed her by the collar, his face dark with rage. “Keep talking. See what happens. I’ll kill you.”
Victoria looked at him and laughed softly, full of mockery. “Simon, that’s the funny part. You won’t live long enough to make that happen.”
Even now, she wouldn’t back down. Simon took a deep breath, his patience gone. “Looks like you won’t learn until it’s too late. Get in here.”
At his command, four bodyguards rushed in and surrounded Victoria.
Take her,” Simon ordered.
Two of the bodyguards stepped forward and grabbed her.
Victoria didn’t fight. She let them drag her out of Goldenwood Villa and shove her into a car waiting outside.
Soon, the car sped off.
At the
ne time, in Silverwood Villa, Angelica stood by the window, watching everything unfold. A slow smile spread across her lips.
She had guessed it. When Curtis stormed off to Brightstar Entertainment earlier, he mu everything.
have gone to tell Simon
She just hadn’t expected Simon to care about her this much. He showed up to deal with Victoria so
quickly.
Curtis would yell and maybe throw a punch or two. But Simon was different.
Back in middle school, a thug said some dirty things to Angelica and touched her. When Simon found out, he had the man arrested and broke his hands. After that, he just paid the man off.
Angelica didn’t think Victoria would get off easy for slapping her.
Two hours later, the car stopped. Victoria was dragged out and shoved forward by the bodyguards. “Move!”
They pushed her into an abandoned factory. Victoria steadied herself and looked around, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
This place was remote and empty. Simon had picked this place on purpose. He really planned to get
violent.
Victoria had always known this so–called family cared only about Angelica and had no feelings for her. Still, she hadn’t expected them to be this ruthless.

She needed an outlet. Or she would break.
Simon had two guards stay at the entrance. He walked in with the other two and had them shot the factory door.
“Whatever happens here, no one will ever know,” he said as he walked toward her, his voice cold.
Victoria smiled slightly and nodded. “You’re right. Nice place. No one will know anything
Simon’s gaze turned even colder. “I’m not like Curtis. I don’t waste time talking when I can settle things with my firs
Is that so?” Victoria raised her eyebrows.
Simon went on, his tone almost generous, “Since you’re my sister, I’ll give you one chance. You just got back. You don’t know the rules yet. I get that.
‘So here’s your chance. Go apologize to Angelica. Then slap yourself a hundred times in front of her. Do that, and I’ll let you walk out today.”
Victoria found it almost funny. Being told to apologize to Angelica and slap herself a hundred times felt like nothing short of an insult.
She looked up at him, a sharp smile on her lips. “So you do remember I’m your real sister. Are you sure you want to go this far for an adopted one?”
