Chapter 209
Someone was arguing outside the door, and before long, it swung open. Angelica had been determined to win Nathan’s heart, so while she was locked in the private room, she spent her time in front of the mirror, fixing herself up.
To keep Nathan from noticing the scar on her face, she tore off a piece of gauze, cut it into a veil, attached two strings, and hooked it behind her ears to cover her face.
When she heard the door open, Angelica lifted her gaze right away. She knew exactly the kind of look that made people feel sorry for her, she’d perfected it during her time with the Binder family.
But to her surprise, it wasn’t Nathan who walked in; it was Lexi. Lexi stormed into the room, her face, once bright and beaut ful, now darkened with anger.
She glared at Angelica, her eyes practically shooting flames, and snapped through gritted teeth, “So it really is you, Angelica!” She rushed up to Angelica, raised her hand, and slapped her hard across the face.
With a sharp smack, the slap sent Angelica’s veil flying off her face. Reeling from the sudden blow, Angelica staggered back a few steps before collapsing heavily onto the cold, unyielding floor.
The bodyguards outside the door, seeing what happened, quickly tried to explain, “Ms. Lowe, you’ve got it wrong. This woman isn’t Nathan’s lover…”
But Lexi wasn’t having any of it. Her face twisted with rage as she snapped, “With her acting all seductive just now, you expect me to believe she’s not his lover? What, you think she’s his partner–in–crime or something?
Take her away! Let her find out what happens when she tries to steal my man!” Lexi ordered.
Ms. Lowe, Mr. Clark specifically asked to see her. You can’t just take her away…”
Lexi planted her hands on her hips, her voice full of authority. “I don’t care what you say; I’m taking her with me today! I want to see which one of you actually dares to stop me!”
One of the bodyguards looked troubled and carefully reminded her, “Ms. Lowe, if you do this, you might really anger Mr. Clark…”
Lexi just snorted and shot back, “So what, are you saying this shameless woman is more important to Nathan than me, his rightful fiancée?”
Faced with her fierce questioning, the bodyguard was left speechless, not knowing how to respond.
Seeing this. Lexi became even more overbearing. She paid no more attention to the bodyguards‘ objections and simply waved at her own men, signaling them to grab Angelica and take her away by force.
Once they got downstairs, Angelica fought back hard and warned, “Lexi, there’s nothing between Nathan and me! If you drag me away without his say–so and piss him off, you’ll regret it!”
Lexi spun around and slapped Angelica again. “Look at you, do you even know what kind of trouble you’re in? Still daring to threaten me? You think you’re still the E.C.E’s number one socialite? You’re just a fraud who wormed her way in!”
Once they were in the car, Lexi let out a sigh of relief and turned to one of the bodyguards behind her “Alright, you can take her away, but I want to talk to your boss, Victoria Binder. Give me her contact info.”
When Angelica heard the name “Victoria Binder,” she instantly stopped struggling. What the hell is going on? When did Lexi and Victoria even know each other?‘ she wondered, completely thrown off

One of the bodyguards restraining Angelica replied. “Alright”
After leaving the company, Victoria started her car with practiced ease and stepped on the gas, speeding away
Back at the Binder family’s Goldenwood Villa, Victoria had just parked when her phone, resting on the passenger seat. suddenly rang with a crisp ringtone.
She picked up the phone and saw a completely unfamiliar number on the screen. Though a bit puzzled, she still answered the call. On the other end, a woman spoke up, “Victoria?”
Victoria arched an eyebrow, pretty sure she knew who it was. “Yeah?”
The woman went on. “It’s Lexi.”
Victoria was right. Lèxi continued, “I’ve already taken Angelica off your hands, but not because I’m upset about some guy”
Victoria’s lips curled into a playful, intrigued smile. “Oh? Go on, I’m curious.”
Lexi explained, “Whether or not you were behind Bater getting locked up this time, the fact that you dared to go up against he Clark family means you’ve got guts, and some serious tricks up your sleeve.
So if you really manage to bring them down, that’s actually good news for me too!”
Victoria chuckled. “That’s funny; I always thought you were crazy about Nathan, like everyone online says.”
Bullshit!” Lexi shot back. “I just can’t handle Nathan. Who would actually like a guy who’s always getting violent?”
Victoria laughed again. ‘Lexi really has no filter,‘ she thought. “Alright, relax. I’ll take down the Clark family for you.”

in the car, after overhearing the call, Angelica’s eyes widened in shock. “Seriously, Lexi? You’re actually helping Victoria. someone you hate, just to ruin your own fiancé?”
After hanging up, Lexi gave Angelica a look full of contempt. “Do you really think everyone is like you, always scheming for i man’s affection, doing whatever it takes just to get noticed?”
Lexi ordered, “Alright, take Angelica away.”
As she watched Angelica get dragged away, Lexi knew she was about to deal with Nathan’s wrath. But whatever: she just had to hang in there a bit longer. Once the Clark family went down, she could finally ditch the engagement for good.
She was totally sick of everyone acting like marrying Nathan was some huge achievement, like she was supposed to feel grateful or something. Truth was, Nathan had been the one to pressure her parents into this engagement from the start
On paper, she was an only daughter, but her dad actually had a secret son out there. Her dad figured marrying her off to Nathan was his ticket; he could use her to help his secret son cozy up to the Clark family and climb the social ladder
But as far as the Clark family was concerned, marrying Lexi meant all her family’s assets would eventually belong to them
Lexi clenched her fists. Neither my dad’s secret son nor the Clark family is gonna steal my company from me! she swore to
herself

“Nathan, the HR manager just told me, twelve people from Brightstar Entertainment are quitting to join us at Gale Entertaiment With so many people leaving at once, that overconfident Victoria must be freaking out right now Justin said with a respectful smile
Nathan narrowed his eyes in satisfaction. “Good. As for those twelve people jumping ship, you’ll have to figure out how to handle them yourself, Justin.”
Just as Nathan finished speaking, the assistant who’d been waiting outside pushed open the glass door and quickly walked over to him.
“Nathan, Ms. Lowe somehow got wind that you had Angelica staying at Midnight Blue. She thought you were keeping her as a lover, so she went over, caused a scene, and took her away,” the assistant reported.
Nathan’s face turned icy as he looked at Justin, who was visibly nervous. “Your daughter sure has a strong attitude.”
Justin swallowed hard. “Nathan, please don’t be angry. I’ll make sure Lexi learns her lesson…”
Nathan’s voice was cold. “I don’t want this to happen again. Otherwise, Gale Entertainment will end up just like Brightstar
Entertainment.”
Justir. nodded repeatedly. “Understood, Nathan.”
Nathan added, “And about that AI deepfake video of Victoria I asked you to make; once it’s done, post it online.
“Then hire some trolls to push it onto the trending topics and try to bury the news about my uncle getting arrested. After all, juicy gossip always gets more clicks and chatter.”
