When Xavier asked him, Simon shot a look at Victoria sitting across from him, trying to gauge her reaction.

Honestly, Simon had been conflicted all the way to the Thornton family, and even more so when Victoria arrived.

Am I really supposed to testify for Faye, admitting I was poisoned?

Would Victoria see this as another kind of betrayal?‘ he thought.

But if he didn’t testify, he might lose any chance he had to get the antidote.

Noticing Simon looking at her. Victoria quipped with a teasing smile, “Why are you staring at me? Xavier’s the one asking, not me.”

Victoria’s indifferent attitude made Simon’s heart ache all over again. Even though he knew he’d disappoint his sister once more, the urge to rid himself of the poison was overwhelming.

Every time the poison flared up, the pain was so unbearable he wished he could just end it all.

Even if he ended up testifying for Faye, it was only because he was forced into it. It was never his intention to betray

Simon clenched his fists, wrestling with his conscience before finally speaking up.

“Mr. Thornton, Faye isn’t lying. My sister really did poison her. This kind of poison can’t be traced. Last time I told my grandfather, Calvin Binder, he didn’t believe me because there was no evidence. But now that Faye’s been poisoned too. we’re both victims, so that’s why I’ve decided to testify for her.”

As he said this, Simon couldn’t even look at Victoria.

But Simon was overthinking it. Victoria had never trusted him, so she didn’t even bother looking his way.

If she still held out any hope for Simon, he’d just end up breaking her heart all over again.

Victoria kept her tone playful and sarcastic. “Simon, got any proof this time? Who knows, maybe you and Faye are just ganging up to smear me.”

Before Simon could even respond, Faye pulled out her phone. “Grandpa, I’ve got videos from every time the poison hit me. Seriously, why would I mess around with my own body? You can see how much pain I was in.”

Simon hesitated, then took out his phone as well. “Mr. Thornton, I had my mom record me too. The doctors still can’t figure out what kind of poison it is, but trust me, the pain is real.”

Gerry just looked at the phone Faye handed him.

Simon put his phone away with a sullen look.

Convinced that his granddaughter’s pain wasn’t faked, Gerry handed the phone back to Faye, then turned to Victoria and asked sternly, “Victoria, did you really poison her?”

Before Victoria could even say anything, Faye cut her off, tears streaming down her face. “Grandpa, would I ever lie to you? I don’t care about blaming Victoria–I just want this poison out of my body. If I don’t get the antidote soon, every time it hits, it’s like living hell. I can’t take it anymore.”

After she finished, Faye let her tears fall and shot Simon a desperate look.

Simon anmediately echoed her, “Mr. Thornton, when the poison flares up, it’s unbearable. If I didn’t have painkillers, I honestly don’t think I’d survive it.”

Faye kept sobbing, her voice trembling with misery. “Grandpa, you have to help me. If I can’t get rid of the poison, Victoria’s going to drive me insane–or worse, kill me with this torment.”

Victoria was just about to deny it again when Jackson gently patted her hand and said, “Let me handle this.” Then he turned to Faye with a faint smile. “So you guys shot some videos, huh? Turns out, I recorded one myself.”

With that, he turned to Ollie and called out, “Ollie.”

Ollie nodded, pulled out his phone, opened a video, and walked over to Gerry. “Mr. Thornton, please take a look.”

Victoria was a little surprised, but she quickly caught on to what Jackson had recorded. She raised an eyebrow at him, a playful glint in her eyes. “Jack, you really know how to catch people off guard.”

Jackson grinned. “Well, Faye let her guard down.”

Faye’s eyes flew open in shock. ‘What did Jackson film?‘ she panicked, her mind racing.

No way… could it be that?‘ Faye felt a chill run down her spine.

Xavier’s brow furrowed, a sense of foreboding settling in.

Simon’s heart was pounding. He’d risked everything today, testifying for Faye, just for a shot at getting the poison out of his body.

If this didn’t work, it really was his last chance–he’d never get another.

After all, he’d just stabbed his own sister, Victoria, in the back–again.

With everyone watching, Gerry took the phone and hit play. Jackson’s voice came through first.

‘So Xavier took Cassian to Afriska just to force me to go save him, and then keep me stuck there forever?” Jackson said.

Then Faye’s voice came through.

“Jackson, you’re overthinking it. Xavier didn’t take Cassian. Cassian screwed up and ran off to Afriska by himself.”

“Oh? Is that so?” Jackson replied.

“Bro, that’s not it. Xavier was the one who took me. I heard him talking to his men in Afriska–he wanted to force you to come save me, then get rid of you,” Cassian said.

Faye was floored when she heard her own words playing out loud.

She never imagined Jackson had secretly recorded everything back then.

If she’d known he was filming, there’s no way she would’ve said those things and handed him the perfect evidence.

Gerry’s face was grim, the phone’s glow casting a shadow over his wrinkled features, making him look even more forbidding.

Xavier’s expression was just as dark. He’d only wanted to help his sister get the antidote, but now he was about to get dragged

down with her.

Jackson, no matter how tough you are, you wouldn’t actually kill someone, right? If you did, you’d end up in jail!”

‘If you killed some random nobody, maybe you could just pay off their family, or Grandpa could find someone to take the Fall for you. But if you killed me, my dad and Xavier would never let it go!”

I’ve got my brother and my dad behind me, but Jackson, you’ve got nobody left. Your mom’s gone, and your dad and brother both want you dead!
