After watching the video, Gerry handed the phone back to Ollie, his face grim.

Ollie took the phone and stepped back behind Jackson.

Gerry didn’t say anything right away, lost in thought.

Faye never imagined Jackson would actually sneak around and record a video like that.

She nervously stole glances at Xavier, seeing him just sitting there with a tense face and saying nothing. Faye bit her lip, trying to figure out how to explain things to Gerry.

Before she could come up with anything, Gerry turned to Xavier.

“So, what do you two have to say about the conversation in this video?” Gerry asked.

“Grandpa, I…” Faye still couldn’t figure out how to explain herself.

After all, those were her own words. She couldn’t just pretend it was a deepfake and that it wasn’t really her talking in the video.

Wait, maybe she could actually get away with that!

Just as she was about to use that excuse, Xavier calmly explained, “Gerry, you can’t trust anything Cassian says. He’s someone who’d even harm his own brother. Jackson probably has some misunderstandings about me. I didn’t kidnap Cassian–he came to me asking for help. He said he’d messed up so badly that Jackson wouldn’t let him off, so he begged me to save his life.”

‘He said he could help me compete for the Thornton heir, Gerry. You know I’m your grandson—I can’t just ignore that. With the opportunity right in front of me, of course I wasn’t going to let it slip by. Victoria stayed perfectly calm, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “Oh, so you got caught by someone you think is beneath you? Doesn’t that just make you even more pathetic? Of course I’d poison a loser like you. Why would I even hesitate?”

Without bothering about Faye’s twisted expression, Victoria turned to Xavier. “From what you just said, you took Cassian but never really meant to hurt Jack, right? So me poisoning your sister is just another tactic for Jack in the fight for the heir spot. As long as she’s alive, it’s fair game, isn’t it?”

Xavier just stared back at her coldly, refusing to answer.

Faye finally lost it, “Grandpa, you heard her–Victoria just admitted she poisoned me! Make her give me the antidote, right now! If you don’t, she’s basically stomping all over the Thornton family’s name!”

‘Nah, you’re mistaken. I’m only messing with your family’s reputation, not Gerry’s or Jack’s. You don’t get to speak for the whole Thornton family,” Victoria replied, totally unfazed.

‘Gerry, you saw the video. I didn’t poison Faye for myself–it was all to protect Jack. The fact that I could poison her just proves how useless she and her brother are–Xavier doesn’t even come close to Jack.”

As soon as Victoria dropped the word “useless,” Xavier’s face went dark.

Victoria acted like she didn’t even notice and kept going, “Xavier tried to use Cassian to go after Jack, but not only did he fail, he ended up screwing himself over–his own sister wound up as the hostage.”

‘Alright, Victoria’s right. Whatever you two were scheming behind the scenes, you failed, so you need to be ready to face the consequences,” Gerry said, turning to Victoria. “Victoria, I’ll make sure these two pay for what they did to Jackson, but I hope you’ll still give Faye the antidote.”

Victoria nodded. “Sure thing, Grandpa. Since you asked, I’ll sort Faye out.”

Faye’s eyes lit up at that.

Simon, who’d been too scared to say a word, suddenly felt a glimmer of hope. ‘Wait, does this mean I finally get the antidote too?‘ he thought, hope flickering in his chest.

But Faye barely had time to feel relieved before Victoria continued, “But…”

Faye snapped, unable to hold back her impatience. “But what? Victoria, this is the Thornton family’s turf. You’re not even married in yet, so you’d better behave! Cut the crap and hand over the antidote already!”
