When she heard Calvin’s words, Victoria’s smile faded, and she fell silent.

Daisy and Hector, sitting beside her, both noticed the change in Victoria’s expression. They exchanged a glance and quietly sipped their soup.
After a long moment, Victoria finally spoke. “Grandpa, are you thinking about having them move back in with us?”
Daisy’s eyes flickered with confusion for a moment.
‘Their family? Who else could she be talking about?‘ Daisy thought.
Of course, she was talking about Darell’s family.
‘Victoria wouldn’t ask that unless Dad said something to her,’ Daisy thought.
‘What did Dad say?‘ Daisy wondered.
Hector also fell into thought. Their family had finally found some peace, and he hoped nothing would disrupt it again.
“Victoria, don’t overthink it. I’m not planning to have your uncle and his family move back in with us. But at the end of the day, your uncle is my son, and Kevin and Curtis are my grandsons. I’m not going to be around much longer, so I just hope we can all have dinner together more often,” Calvin explained.
Hearing Calvin’s words, Victoria thought, ‘So Grandpa really wants me to let go and forgive Darell’s family, huh?‘
At least, that’s how it looked on the surface.
Victoria didn’t say anything else. “I understand, Grandpa.”
Calvin said, “Alright, you and your parents go ahead and eat. I won’t keep you any longer.”
Victoria replied, “Okay, Grandpa. Just send me your flight details when you have them, and I’ll come pick you up.”
As Victoria hung up, Daisy asked with a conflicted expression, “Victoria, what did Grandpa say to you just now?”
Victoria set her phone down and said calmly, “Grandpa’s coming back in a couple of days. He wants Darell’s family to come to the Binder family house for dinner.”
As expected,‘ Daisy thought.
They say it’s just dinner, but there’s no way it’s only about food.
After everything that’s happened, can the two families really sit down together like nothing ever happened?
‘It’s obvious Dad wants their family to forgive Darell’s family.‘ She thought.
Daisy looked at Victoria with concern. “Victoria, what do you think? If you don’t want to have dinner with them, just go to the Thornton family house and spend time with Jack that day. Your dad and I will handle things here.”
Daisy totally got where Calvin was coming from.
No matter what mistakes Darell’s family had made, they were still Calvin’s blood relatives. Kicking them out of the Binder family and taking the company away from them was already a pretty harsh punishment.

Chapter 268
There was no way Calvin would ever completely cut ties with Darell’s family.
Now that things have cooled down, Calvin just wants the families to make up if possible.
It’s not that simple to just patch things up.

Victoria’s been hurt by Curtis Binder again and again, and Daisy was even kidnapped by the butler because of Darell Binder. There’s no way she’ll ever forgive Darell for that.
Victoria said, “We’ll see about that.”
No matter what Calvin was up to, the shares of the Binder family’s two most important companies–Binder Healthcare and Brightstar Entertainment–were already in her name.
At the end of the day, what she actually holds is what really matters.
Hector added, “Victoria, you’re our daughter. All we want is for you to never have to do anything you don’t want to do. If you really don’t want to have dinner with Darell’s family, just skip it. I doubt Grandpa will say anything. And if he does, that’s his problem–I’ll back you up and argue with him if I have to.”
Victoria smiled. “I know, Dad, Mom. Don’t worry, I won’t force myself. Let’s just wait and see what Grandpa’s really planning when he gets back.”
Hector stayed quiet. Sometimes Victoria was so reliable and self–sufficient, it made him and Daisy ache for her as parents.
After all, it took weathering countless storms for her to become so composed that her parents rarely had to worry about her.
Like the saying goes: kids who grow up without privilege learn to take care of themselves early.
Victoria’s maturity came from never having anyone to shield her–she had to solve everything on her own since she was ittle.
What they could do for Victoria now felt almost insignificant.
After dinner, Victoria headed out to her herb garden, just like always. She gave every single plant a good look–over, checking now they were doing, then watered and fed them with care.
Once she finished up in the garden, Victoria went back to her room, took a relaxing hot shower, dried her hair, and slipped nto some comfy pajamas. She climbed into bed, picked up her phone, and started a video call with Jack by tapping his profile picture.
It wasn’t long before Jack answered, and the screen showed his upper body.
Jack looked like he’d just showered as well–he was wrapped in a soft bathrobe, his hair still damp, tousled and a bit wild.
‘Jack, how are you doing today? Any updates on your brother?” Victoria asked.
Since she’d been helping Jack with his treatment lately, Victoria knew he was constantly keeping tabs on anything related to his brother.
Sometimes, Jack had to personally go and investigate.
Jack gave a faint, almost resigned smile. “Still nothing. Another dead end.”
Victoria could read the frustration and disappointment in his smile.

She’d already asked Mara to get the organization’s best people on the case, but even they couldn’t dig up any clues about Jack’s brother.
So Victoria said, “Jack, maybe you should just go straight to your dad, Donald, and ask him yourself.”
She paused, then added, “If he still won’t admit anything, you might have to get ruthless. And if you can’t bring yourself to do it, I’ll handle it for you–I’ll interrogate Donald myself, and if push comes to shove, I’ll just give him a dose of poison.”
Jack chuckled. “No need to waste your precious poison. Honestly, I’ve already made up my mind. I’ll have people keep searching the whole country for another week. If we still can’t find him, I’ll do whatever it takes to force Donald to spill the truth.”
Because if his brother is still alive, he couldn’t know how his brother was really doing.
If his brother’s life is okay, then a bit of delay wouldn’t really matter.
But if things are tough for him, then every day we wait is just another day he has to suffer.
‘Alright, since you’ve made up your mind,” Victoria said, then filled Jack in on the call from Calvin. “Jack, tell me if I’m wrong -Grandpa just wants me to let things go with Darell’s family, doesn’t he?”
Jack let out a quiet “Mm,” then said, “Yeah, if you look at it from your grandpa’s side, that’s exactly what he’s hoping for.”
Victoria said, feeling frustrated, “If Grandpa really wants that, it honestly feels like he’s betraying me.”
Jack replied, his tone firm, “Just stick to what you believe, Victoria. Don’t let Grandpa’s plans mess with you. Binder Healthcare and Brightstar Entertainment are already in your and your dad’s hands. All those so–called family feelings? They don’t matter at all.”
Victoria nodded, agreeing. “Yeah, that’s exactly how I see it. Luckily, you and Dad made sure I got the company shares. Otherwise, if I really made the company big, I might’ve just ended up handing everything over to Darell’s family.”
Jack nodded, totally agreeing. “Right. What you actually own is what counts. Feelings are so fragile–they never survive the test of time and reality.”
Victoria teased, “Oh? So, Jack, does that mean even what we have can’t be trusted?”
