Jackson wasn’t bothered by her doubts at all. He just said calmly, “Yeah, I can’t even promise who I’ll be ten years from now. So, Vickie, when I’m at my most devoted, make sure you grab every advantage I can offer you–not just my love.”

Victoria didn’t even pause. “Alright. I might take a hit in love, but I won’t let myself get shortchanged when it comes to benefits.”

She really admired Jackson’s honesty with her.

People are greedy, so genuine feelings are always fickle. When you’re broke, you want money. When life is dull, you crave excitement. But once you’ve had your fun, you don’t want to let go of the peace and quiet.

“Jack, do you ever think I’m too logical?” Victoria asked.

Jackson replied, “What’s wrong with being logical? As long as it’s good for you, that’s all that matters.”

Victoria smiled. “Alright, that’s my mistake. Why would I ever doubt myself? I’m just like this–I can’t help being this way.”

“Vickie, honestly, that’s what I like about you,” Jackson said straight up.

Victoria gave a small smile and said, “Your leg’s still healing, so get some rest. I’m heading to bed too.”

“Okay, goodnight, Vickie,” Jackson said.

“Night, Jack,” Victoria replied.

After the video call ended, Victoria plugged in her phone, turned off the lights, and lay in bed, staring into the darkness.

‘If he stays true, maybe we really could be together forever,‘ she hoped.

As soon as the video call ended, the spacious room felt even emptier and fell silent.

Jackson stared at his phone, the chat window with Victoria still open, showing how long they’d talked. He felt suddenly empty inside.

He dropped his gaze, and all he wanted was to hold Vickie in his arms and fall asleep together right now.

Ten minutes later, just as he was about to plug in his phone, a message popped up.

[Jack, I was thinking about what you said. I don’t want to get screwed over in love either. So here’s the deal: after we get married, you better not ever cheat or change your mind. Seeing that crazy possessive message, Jackson couldn’t help but laugh out loud. The emptiness in his heart was instantly replaced with warmth.

He quickly replied: [Alright, Vickie, I’ll never change my mind.]

At ten o’clock, Tracy knocked on the CEO’s office door, pushed it open, and spoke quietly, “Boss, Curtis is here, and Marty’s with him.”

Victoria looked up. “Let them in.”

Tracy nodded, turned, and left the office. A moment later, she ushered Curtis and Marty into the room.

Curtis was dressed casually, looking tired and a little disheveled. Marty, on the other hand, was in a sharp suit, smiling with confidence.

As soon as Marty walked in, he glanced around the office and remarked, “It’s been a while since I last came to Brightstar Entertainment–feels almost unfamiliar now. Back then, Simon used to tear into me right here. Who would’ve thought he’d be gone so soon?”

Curtis felt a flash of irritation when Marty started badmouthing Simon.

But remembering he’d soon be working at Gale Entertainment and would have to stay on Marty’s good side, he held back his temper and kept his mouth shut.

After joining Gale Entertainment, I realized just how tiny Brightstar Entertainment really is. Makes me wonder how long a small–time company like this can even survive.

He turned to Victoria, a smug grin on his face, clearly trying to provoke her. “What do you think, Ms. Binder?”

Victoria let go of the mouse and leaned back in her chair. “Well, as long as you don’t suddenly drop dead, I’m pretty sure Brightstar will outlive you. So unless you kick the bucket soon, my company’s got a longer lifespan than you do.”

Marty’s face instantly soured at her words.

Victoria didn’t even bother with his expression and continued, “You’re right, Brightstar Entertainment is pretty small. That’s why I’m planning to expand–and I’m kicking things off by taking over Gale Entertainment.”

Marty snorted, “Ms. Binder, that’s some big talk. Your ambition’s even bigger than Simon’s, but honestly, you’re just chasing pipe dreams.”

Victoria stayed unfazed by his taunt and replied coolly, “Relax. Once I take over Gale Entertainment, the first name on my chopping block will be yours.”

Curtis didn’t want to argue with his sister, so he interrupted, “Vickie, I’m here today to terminate my contract with the company.”

Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Oh? Gale Entertainment is really willing to play the fool and cover your contract termination

Marty scoffed, “Sucker? Just wait and see how high we’ll launch Curtis at Gale Entertainment–he’s gonna be our new cash cow The money’s already in Brightstar’s account. Hand Curtis his contract back and let’s sign the termination papers.”

Victoria turned to Tracy and said, “Have finance check if we’ve got three million dollars from Gale Entertainment. If it’s in, get the termination papers ready.”

Tracy nodded. “Got it.”

A moment later. Tracy came back into the office. “Victoria, the three million dollars from Gale Entertainment just hit our account. Here are the termination papers.”

Victoria didn’t waste any words. She pulled Curtis’s contract out of the drawer and tossed it onto the desk. “Here’s Curtis’s original contract with Brightstar Entertainment.”

Then she nodded at Tracy, motioning for her to hand the termination papers to Curtis.

Curtis took the papers and rLexiwed the termination contract together with Marty. Once they confirmed everything was in order, Curtis glanced at Victoria–seeing she had nothing to add, he picked up the pen and quickly signed his name.

Marty took the termination papers, then handed Curtis the new contract he’d prepared ahead of time. “Sign your name, and you’re officially part of Gale Entertainment.”

Curtis had already looked over the contract in the car and was okay with the terms, so he didn’t hesitate to sign his name.

Marty gathered up the freshly signed contract, slipped it into his folder, and stood up, boasting, “Thanks for sending such a promising star our way, Ms. Binder. Gale Entertainment appreciates it.”

Victoria shot back, unfazed, “No need to thank me. Honestly, I should be thanking you for paying three million bucks to haul away my garbage.”
