The middle–aged woman known as Mrs. Tooth was puffing on a cigarette, staring at a photo in her other hand
When she heard Angelica speak, she looked up, tossed the photo aside, and strode over. She started peeling off the bandages from Angelica’s face, then grabbed her chin and sized her up. “No wonder you used to be the most talented woman in the capital’s elite circles. You really do have the looks.”
Angelica stared at the woman in front of her, feeling sick to her stomach.
Mrs. Tooth was dressed in expensive clothes, but a long scar ran across her face.
The real kicker was that her two front teeth gleamed with gold.
Smack!
Before Angelica could even react, a slap hit her right across the face.
Angelica blinked in confusion, holding her slapped right cheek.
Mrs. Tooth blew on her palm, now red from the slap. “You were just thinking I look disgusting, weren’t you?”
She hadn’t expected Mrs. Tooth to read her mind so easily. Angelica kept her face covered, not daring to say a word.
“No matter how pretty you are, you all end up as toys for rich men. So drop the holier–than–thou act. If you want to work for me, leave your pride at the door,” Mrs. Tooth said, settling back onto the sofa and flicking the ash from her cigarette into the ashtray.
Angelica shook her head, with tears in her eyes. “Mrs. Tooth, I never thought you were gross. Dignity means nothing to me now. As long as I can stay alive and get revenge on my enemies, I’m willing to give up all my pride.”
“At least you know your place,” Mrs. Tooth said, tossing her cigarette aside. She took a file from her assistant and dropped it onto the coffee table in front of Angelica. “This is your job from now on.”
Angelica bent down, picked up the file, and carefully read through the job description.
Mrs. Tooth took a sip of the tea her assistant had poured, letting it wash away the taste of smoke. “You used to be the most talented woman in the capital’s social scene, so I bet you’ve got plenty of skills.”
“From now on, you’ll be a mentor at my socialite training academy. Your job is to recruit girls who are pretty, ambitious, vain, and have the looks but lack connections. Tell them we’ll teach them how to snag a wealthy heir from the capital’s high society, so they can make a leap in status and leave their old lives behind.” She said.
“And make sure to tell those girls that our academy throws secret parties every year, with power players from every corner and every field. If any of those guys take a liking to them, it’s their chance to turn their lives around and become a socialite overnight.”
Angelica now realized exactly what her job was.
She was supposed to recruit young, beautiful women to be offered up for the pleasure of those rich and powerful men.
And the promise of “moving up in the world” was nothing but bait to lure those girls in.
“I understand, Mrs. Tooth. I’ll make sure to do my best with this job,” Angelica replied obediently.
Mrs. Tooth was pleased with her attitude. “Next year, the socialite training academy needs to recruit at least a hundred girls.

Chapter 280
That means you have to bring in at least ten young, pretty girls every month. Can you handle that?”
Angelica nodded. “Yes. I won’t let Nathan down, and I’ll make sure to live up to the opportunity he gave me and your guidance. Mrs Tooth”
Mrs Tooth waved her hand and told her assistant, “Take her and get her set up.”
Angelica followed the assistant through the facility, passing several gorgeous women who were working on their conversation skills and perfecting their poise.
“If you don’t want to spend your whole life slaving away for someone else, scraping by on just 3.000 dollars a month, then your youth and beauty are your assets. If a rich guy takes a fancy to you, you’ll be on top of the world…”
Hearing this, Angelica clenched her fists, refusing to accept it
If it weren’t for Victoria, she would ve already been somebody
As long as she was still breathing, she’d find a way to bring Victoria down
After Angelica was taken away. Mrs Tooth called Nathan, planning to ask if he’d finally found the little bastard responsible for her mother’s death all those years ago
Twenty–one years ago.
Her mother took on a job
A mysterious man, hiding his identity, gave his own son to her mother to sell–he didn’t want a single dollar, just had one demand: get the boy as far away from the Benwig Caty as possible
So her mother took the boy and headed south
By pure chance, her mother ran into the boy’s real mom–the one who’d been searching for him nonstop.
Her mother got lucky, the boy’s mom crashed her car while chasing after her
Her mother thought she was finally in the clear, but the boy’s mom managed to make one last desperate call for help before she died.
All she remembered was that day–her mother called her, voice shaking with fear ‘Sweetheart. I think karma’s finally caught up with me. I’m going straight to hell”
“If I die, don’t try to get revenge for me”
The next day, she got the news: her mother had died horribly by the roadside. Her body was mangled beyond recognition, her head completely separated from the rest.
Her mother died in such a brutal way–there was no way she could ever forgive or forget. Revenge was the only thing keeping her going.
She spent almost twenty years chasing down the truth, but never found out who killed her mother or who rescued that little brat. Then, she happened to stumble upon some secrets about the Clark family. Two years ago, she made a deal with Nathan: she’d work for him, but only if he helped her track down the person who destroyed her mother and the whereabouts of that kid.
At Midnight Blue’s office, Nathan stared at the file in his hands, his expression growing more excited.

Chapter 280
I really didn’t expect this. Nathan thought
So the baby her mother tried to sell all those years ago was actually Jackson’s real brother!
That means Cassian–the one Jackson sent to prison isn’t even his real brother.
Interesting
Things just got a whole lot more interesting.
I can’t believe I stumbled onto such a bombshell.
66 Gouchers
No wonder Jackson was so ruthless–he sent Cassian and Sibley, Donald’s illegitimate daughter, straight to prison, and even ocked his own father up in a care facility.
Furns out, it was all because Jackson realized Cassian wasn’t really his brother.
f he had his people run the investigation for Mrs. Tooth sooner, he might’ve already tracked down Jackson’s real brother.
Too bad
But that’s okay–I still had a shot.’ He thought.
If I found Jackson’s real brother first, what Jackson would do. To what lengths would Jackson go to save his own brother?
Nathan couldn’t help but look forward to it.
Knock, knock, knock.
The door opened, and Lexi walked in, carrying a lunchbox. She smiled brightly. “Nathan, I made you lunch again today.”
exi was momentarily taken aback when she saw the excitement Nathan could barely hide on his face.
What on earth could get Nathan this hyped?‘ Lexi thought to herself.
ince she’d met and gotten engaged to him, Lexi had never seen Nathan act like this. She knew the thing that always got inder his skin was how the elite circles whispered about him, calling him the eternal runner–up.
The only thing that could really make him happy was finally putting Jackson in his place.
ust then, Nathan’s phone rang.
de picked up, and Mrs. Tooth’s voice came through, sharp and impatient. “Nathan, I’ve been working for you for two years now. So, have you finally found out who killed my mother? And what about that little bastard who was rescued–any news on him?”
