In Gale Entertainment, Nathan sat on the couch, expressionless, listening as Justin and Timothy reported their recent moves targeting Victoria.

Timothy, looking smug, scrolled through the trending topics and boasted to his father, “Mr. Clark, just look at the online reviews for Chasing the Dream. It’s getting absolutely trashed.

“It looks like Chasing the Dream is going to be dead in the water before it even starts filming.”

Justin was pleased with the current online sentiment, but he still said, “Don’t celebrate too soon. Let’s see what Victoria does in the next few days.”

Timothy scoffed, “Dad, don’t worry. What could she possibly do? Even if she tries something, it won’t matter.

“At the birthday party, Mr. Clark just needs to snap his fingers, and Victoria will be finished. Without anyone in charge, Brightstar Entertainment will be in chaos.”

Justin thought his son had a point, and he couldn’t help but feel that Timothy was really starting to look like a real executive.

Nathan, sitting on the couch, gave a cold reminder, “Daniel Lopez, the director who was beaten up by Stephen Scott, has gone missing.”

Last time, he’d sent Daniel to lead him to Stephen, hoping to set an example and send a warning. But he hadn’t expected Jackson and Victoria to show up.

Victoria was just too cunning. Even after things got violent, and despite having bodyguards, he was worried things might spiral out of control, so he left Daniel behind and hurried out.

Looking back, he really shouldn’t have done that. He’d basically handed Victoria a witness for free.

He just hoped Daniel understood what would happen if he pissed him off and kept his mouth shut.

Timothy smirked, “Mr. Clark, worried Daniel is with Victoria? Relax. As long as Victoria doesn’t have any solid proof, I can turn anything white into black online.

“If people start saying she kidnapped Daniel, I’ll just accuse her of forcing him to confess to help clear Stephen’s name.”

Nathan just stayed quiet after hearing that.

Nathan had already made sure every shred of evidence and witness about Daniel harassing actresses on set was erased.

Just like Timothy said, even if Daniel came forward and admitted he was beaten by Stephen for harassing actresses, they could easily claim it was all a forced confession.

As for Brian, his girlfriend Ashley was already being watched by that big shot. His assistant was dead, and with no one left to vouch for him, no one could possibly prove whether he really cheated with his assistant or not.

Nathan was waiting to see how Victoria would manage to clear Stephen and Brian’s names now.

At noon, Victoria and Jackson visited Stephen’s home.

Stephen looked apologetic. “Sorry, Mr. Binder. I’ve brought negative news to the company.”

Victoria said, “No need to apologize. I chose you, and if those accusations hadn’t been exposed as false, I wouldn’t have made you the main antagonist in Chasing the Dream.”

“But…” Stephen was still worried. “If I had proof, I would have cleared myself long ago.”

Victoria said, “Don’t worry. I’ll find the evidence. Let the rumors run for now, then I’ll clear your name. I’m going to help Gary next.”

“You’re still willing to treat Gary?” Stephen said, surprised. He really hadn’t seen that coming.

Victoria smiled casually. “The misunderstanding’s cleared up, right?”

Stephen paused and then said, “Thanks for your trouble, Mr. Binder. Really appreciate it.”

Victoria saw the guilt written all over Stephen’s face and thought to herself, ‘He really isn’t the type to lie against his conscience.’

After Victoria went into the room, Jackson had Ollie hand the invitation to his younger brother Stephen. “This is Vickie’s birthday party invitation.”

Stephen was a little surprised, then took the invitation and said softly, “Thanks, Mr. Thornton.”

Jackson replied warmly, “Come on, we’re family. No need for formalities between us.”

Stephen got the message, kept quiet, and just nodded.

“So, you’re not thinking of bringing Gary to Vickie’s birthday party? I could have Vickie give him an invite too,” Jackson said, playfully.

Stephen paused, then shook his head, making up an excuse, “Gary’s not really comfortable with lively crowds.”

Jackson pretended to be disappointed. “Oh, alright. Forget it then.”

Stephen asked, “Gerry still doesn’t know who I am, right?”

Jackson replied, “Yeah, I promised Gary I wouldn’t spill your secret yet. But honestly, everyone who needs to know already does–including Grandpa.

“He might be old, but his people are still sharp as ever, so it won’t take long for him to figure out who

you are.”

Stephen didn’t say anything more, but he couldn’t help thinking. If Gerry’s really that sharp, did he really not realize that whole “messing with the family’s fortune‘” crap from that phony fortune–teller was just Donald’s scheme?

‘Maybe, just like that person on the phone said, Gerry went along with it all. Maybe he just wanted to use this to push my mom down, or even push her out.

As for the truth behind my mom’s car accident, maybe after I meet Gerry at the birthday party, I’ll finally get some answers about what really happened.”

Inside the room, Gary was surprised to see Victoria. He signed: [Didn’t you say you wouldn’t treat me anymore?]

Victoria sat down by the bed, set her medical kit at her feet, and pulled out a medical pouch. “That depends on whether you still refuse to trust Jack.”

Gary was thinking things through.

He still needed to avenge his benefactor and take down Gerry, so he had to stay sharp. No way could he afford to black out and mess up his plans.

So, he needed Victoria to treat him.

All he had to do was say he trusted Jackson, and Victoria would keep treating him. Alright, he’d just say it.

He trusted Jackson, but as for Gerry? Not a chance.

Gary paused and then signed: [If what you said is true–if he really had Donald Thornton’s tendons cut just to find Stephen, and treated that bastard like the animal he is–then I can trust him.]

“There you go,” Victoria replied with an easy smile. “I only threatened not to treat you to vent for Jack and give you guys a little scare. You saved Jack’s real brother, so of course I wouldn’t just let you suffer.”

[Thanks.] Gary signed and then watched as Victoria got to work, carefully starting the acupuncture treatment. He quietly closed his eyes.

Victoria shot Gary a quick glance, fully aware of what he was plotting.

He needed to stay clear–headed to get his revenge on Gerry, so of course he had to bite the bullet and claim he trusted Jackson, even if it was just for show.

She saw right through Gary’s motives, but still went along with the treatment. Just as Jack suggested, she was turning his scheme right back on him.

Victoria picked up a medical tool and expertly jabbed it into Gary’s temple, thinking, ‘Gary, just play your role as Jack’s pawn and help boot Felix and Xavier out of the game once and for all.‘
