Once Zachary saw there was no real threat, he moved Angelica out of the way and asked, “Timothy, are you alright?”

Angelica stumbled, almost slammed into the coffee table Nathan had kicked over.

She gripped the table with both hands, head down, doing her best to keep her feelings under wraps.

She figured Victoria wouldn’t get out of here without a scratch tonight, but all the guys in the room turned out to be useless.

Even Nathan, the one she’d counted on most, was no better than the rest.

Right in his own territory, Nathan got his face trampled by Victoria.

Timothy, barely holding it together, gasped, “Get someone to help me stop the bleeding…”

Zachary slammed the service button, but Midnight Blue was a mess tonight–no response, no staff showed

Once Angelica steadied herself, she forced a worried smile and whispered urgently, “Zachary, maybe we should just call an ambulance. If we wait any longer, Timothy might be in real trouble.”

Lexi just shot a cold glance at the barely conscious Timothy, said nothing, grabbed her bag from the couch, and walked out, leaving everyone else in the room scrambling to deal with the aftermath.

Not far from the entrance of Midnight Blue, a black sedan sat quietly by the curb.

Ollie, behind the wheel, kept his eyes glued to the entrance. Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he turned to Jackson in the back seat. “Mr. Thornton, Ms. Binder’s out.”

Jackson shifted in his seat, sitting up straight as he peered through the window at the entrance of Midnight Blue.

Sure enough, Victoria’s figure came into view.

Jackson let out a quiet sigh of relief. He knew Victoria was coming to Midnight Blue, but he had no idea why. Even though he trusted her to handle herself, he couldn’t help but worry.

As Victoria walked away, fireflies rose from her and drifted into the night sky.

For a moment, she was bathed in golden light, like a fairy come to earth.

Jackson kept his eyes fixed on Victoria until her figure disappeared completely. He slowly looked away, sat in silence for a moment, and then said to Ollie, “Alright, let’s head back to the old house.”

Ollie nodded, started the car, and slowly drove away from the entrance of Midnight Blue.

Inside the power control room of Midnight Blue, the lights were dim, and the air was thick with tension.

The

manager stood in front of Nathan, sweat beading on his forehead as he nervously reported the results of their investigation to this powerful man.

He said, “Mr. Clark, after a thorough check, we found obvious bite marks on the bodyguards‘ ankles. Looks like they were bitten by some kind of poisonous bug, but luckily the poison was mild, so they got better pretty fast.”

The manager said, taking a deep breath before continuing. “As for the power outage, we discovered that the main switch, which was locked with an electronic security lock, was somehow pulled down by someone, but we have no idea who.”

Nathan listened with a blank face, his gaze fixed on the gate security cabinet that looked like it had never been touched. His eyes grew so dark, it looked like they could drip water.

The manager swallowed hard, his voice trembling as he explained, “Mr. Clark, you know this electronic security lock was custom–made for Midnight Blue, with three layers of security.

“To open it, you need your fingerprint, facial recognition, and a password.

“Unless you’ve got a world–class hacker, there’s just no way anyone could get past Midnight Blue’s security, break into the power control room, and shut down the electricity.”

Nathan’s face turned downright ugly, his brows tightly knit as an invisible pressure weighed down the whole power control room.

‘A world–class hacker?‘ Nathan wondered. ‘Even if there really was one, would they seriously waste their skills just to crack a lock at Midnight Blue, all so Victoria could stir up trouble for Timothy?

‘Talk about overkill. So Victoria’s real aim tonight was to trash Midnight Blue’s reputation in Benwig City, wasn’t it?‘

“What about the surveillance room?” Nathan asked, his voice icy.

The head of security swallowed hard, his voice shaking. “All the cameras at Midnight Blue went down right before Victoria showed up, and only came back online after she left.”

Nathan’s forehead veins bulged. “Victoria, I really did underestimate you again.”

‘Guess I really need to take the warning Victoria gave me tonight seriously, Nathan thought.

“Finn, get someone to look into Victoria’s background before she returned to the Binder family,” Nathan ordered.

After tonight, Nathan was certain that Victoria was definitely not just some country girl who got brought back to the city.

There had to be some real influence behind her.

He just had no clue how deep Victoria’s connections really went. After all, the Clark family had some pretty serious backing too.

Lexi had just gotten back to the apartment she bought herself when the doorbell suddenly rang.

She checked through the peephole, but there was nobody outside.

Confused, she opened the door and saw a box sitting there.

She picked it up, but stayed cautious–worried it might be from some obsessive stalker fan–so she didn’t open it right away.

Not long after, her phone rang.

It was Victoria calling.

Lexi answered, excitement in her voice. “Ms. Binder.”

“Did you get the box? I sent it,” Victoria said.

“So it was you. I thought it might be from some stalker fan, so I hadn’t opened it yet,” Lexi said, switching to speaker and setting her phone on the couch as she opened the box from Victoria.

On the other end, Victoria’s voice kept going, “I called to let you know the box arrived–and to tell you, tomorrow, swing by the Turner family place. There’s a surprise waiting for you.”

Lexi blurted out, “Wait, there’s a surprise?

“Honestly, I was worried you might get into trouble tonight, but you managed to get out in one piece. Ms. Binder, you’re seriously amazing.

“Ms. Binder, thanks for putting that bastard Timothy in his place.”

Victoria replied, “Even if it wasn’t for you, I was always planning to deal with Timothy. Just doing you a solid. And don’t forget, I’m after your Gale Entertainment shares too.”

Lexi paused, then broke into a grin. “Alright, if you help me get my revenge and totally destroy Timothy and his mom, I’ll sell you all my shares dirt cheap.”

She never had any talent for running a company. Acting was what she truly loved.

She just couldn’t stand the idea of letting Timothy, that bastard, take over the company her mom fought so hard for. She’d rather crash the whole thing than let him get it for free.
