“Go abroad? Mom, what are you talking about? You know Dad’s about to hand over the company to me, and you want me to leave now?” Timothy said, his disbelief clear in his voice.

Ophelia said calmly, picking up the bowl again, scooping up a spoonful of oatmeal, and holding it out to Timothy. “If you’re dead, how are you supposed to inherit your father’s company?

“Just listen to me. Go abroad and lay low for a while. I’ve already had your things packed. Once you finish this oatmeal, Ted will drive you to the airport.”

“No, I’m not leaving. I want to deal with Victoria myself, right here. I don’t buy that this little bitch can take me down.” Timothy, agitated, knocked the spoon out of Ophelia’s hand. “This is your idea, right? Dad doesn’t even know about it.”

Ophelia watched her son, who was getting all worked up, showing no emotion at all. She got up, grabbed her phone, and dialed Nash’s number.

“Nash, come in and take my son to the airport,” she ordered.

After hanging up, she looked at Timothy. “This isn’t the time to act up. Sooner or later, your dad’s company will be yours.

“Lexi can’t steal it from you. But if something happens to you, then your dad’s company will really end up in Lexi’s hands.

“The flight leaves at 11:20 AM. It’s 9:10 now. Driving over, you’ll get there by 10, so there’s plenty of time.

“Half a year, tops. Your dad and I will handle everything here. Once Nathan figures out a way to get rid of Victoria, we’ll come pick you up ourselves.”

A middle–aged man walked in, giving Ophelia–looking as glamorous as ever–a quick glance before turning to Timothy, genuine concern and worry in his eyes.

“Timothy, I’ll get you to the airport right away,” he said.

With that, he moved to help Timothy to his feet.

“I’m not leaving. If I go, everyone in our circles will be laughing at me behind my back, saying I chickened out, that I’m afraid of Victoria,” Timothy protested.

Ted turned back, hesitation in his eyes as he looked at Ophelia.

Ophelia sighed and waved her hand. “Take him away, even if you have to force him.”

Nash, with a trace of reluctance in his eyes, still followed Ophelia’s orders. He knocked Timothy out, pulled him off the bed, and slung him over his shoulder.

As he walked past Ophelia, Ted said solemnly, “Mrs. Turner, I’ll take Timothy to the airport now.”

Ophelia stood by the window, watching Ted carry Timothy out to the car. Timothy was right–sending him abroad was totally her own call. She hadn’t even bothered to ask her husband.

She just had a feeling.

She’d made it this far by keeping her eyes open and figuring people out–always staying sharp.

Victoria was just too strange, too unpredictable. There was no way she’d let her son stick around and take her on directly.

Timothy woke up groggily as Ted drove him toward the airport. His head was still fuzzy, and his gaze drifted to the blur of streets speeding past outside the window.

Suddenly, something clicked. His face twisted in shock, and he shouted desperately, “Nash, let me out. I don’t want to go abroad.”

Ted inwardly sighed at Timothy’s protest, but tried to keep his patience as he coaxed, “Timothy, don’t be stubborn. Just do as your mom says and lay low overseas for a bit. She’ll come get you when things settle down.”

But Timothy wasn’t listening at all. He was getting more and more agitated. “Nash, stop the car. This is your last warning. If you don’t pull over right now, I’ll just jump out.”

Before the words were even out of his mouth, Timothy yanked the door open and leaned out, ready to throw himself onto the street.

Ted was scared out of his wits. He slammed on the brakes, hit the hazard lights, and began to pull over to the

side of the road.

As soon as the car pulled over, Timothy jumped out.

No way was he going to chicken out and flee abroad like some coward.

But just as Timothy stepped out, a sudden scream from behind caught him off guard.

He spun around in terror, only to see a car racing straight at him at nearly 120 mph.

His pupils instantly widened in shock.

The next moment, the car smashed into him, sending him flying through the air before he crashed down hard.

As he hit the ground, pain shot through his whole body, but his vision stayed clear for a brief moment.

The sound of screeching brakes suddenly filled the air.

Timothy stared, frozen, as the car that had just slammed into him turned around and raced right toward him.

For some reason, Victoria’s words from last night popped into his head. ‘I just wanted to see if your skull was tough enough.’

At 9:30 AM, Lexi returned to the Turner family villa, a place she hadn’t been in a long time.

As soon as she stepped inside, she bumped into Ophelia in the living room.

Ophelia was momentarily surprised and then smiled. “Lexi, you haven’t been home in forever. What brings you back today? I’m honestly shocked you decided to show up.”

Lexi stared at Ophelia’s fake smile, her fists clenched tight. “The only reason I haven’t come back is because I can’t stand the sight of you.”

She’d never forget the day Ophelia showed up at their door, pregnant and deliberately provoking her mom.

Back then, Ophelia put on a pitiful act, claiming she had no choice and begging her mom for mercy. But in her eyes, there was nothing but provocation and confidence, and the anger only made her mom’s illness worse and worse.

And in the end, her dad actually blamed her mom for saying harsh words that upset Ophelia so much she almost lost the baby, threatening that if anything happened to Ophelia’s son, he’d make her mom pay.

Seriously, what a pair of scumbags.

Lexi stepped inside, her mind buzzing with curiosity. ‘Victoria said there’d be a surprise today. What kind of shocker is she planning this time?‘ she wondered.

“Oh, by the way, your brother mentioned you were at Midnight Blue last night,” Ophelia said, getting up to pour Lexi a glass of water and setting it in front of her.

Lexi glanced at the glass but didn’t touch it. “Yeah, I was at Midnight Blue. What, are you trying to blame me for not protecting your son?”

Ophelia replied, “You’re Nathan’s fiancée now. Letting your brother get hurt so badly on Nathan’s turf. That’s really not right. But I’m not here to blame you. I’m guessing you came back today because you’re worried about your brother’s injuries, right?”

“Yeah, I’m just here to see how badly he’s messed up,” Lexi said, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “So, where is he?”

Ophelia’s eyes narrowed as she saw Lexi ignore the water she’d poured. She took it back and drank it herself. “You really are just like your mom–always stubborn, never willing to give in.

“The more you act like her, the less your dad likes you. Why don’t you get that?

“If you’d just stop being so tough for once, maybe I’d make sure your dad treats you better…”

She glanced at the caller ID. It was Timothy. ‘He must’ve woken up and is calling to confront me, she thought.

Ophelia sighed in resignation and picked up, “Timothy, are you at the airport yet?”

“Is that Mrs. Turner, mother of Timothy Lowe, the deceased?” The man’s voice on the phone was all business, cold and official.

Ophelia froze, thinking she must have misheard. “Deceased? What are you talking about?”
