When she heard this, Ophelia’s mind went blank, as if struck by lightning. Her eyes widened, her lips parted slightly, but she couldn’t make a sound.

It took her a while to come back to her senses and realize that the person on the other end was indeed talking about her son, Timothy.

The deceasedis my son, Timothy?Ophelia’s voice trembled, as if those words weighed a thousand pounds, making them almost impossible to say.

The person on the other end of the line didn’t seem to notice anything was off and kept talking, Timothy was

in a terrible car crash at the second intersection of Asteria Avenue.

He died instantly. It was so brutal that we needed a family member to come to the Rhein Hospital and confirm his identity.

Ophelia felt like an invisible hand was crushing her heart, the pain so sharp she could barely breathe. Her fingers clenched the phone so tightly her knuckles turned white.

She hung up right away and scrambled to her feet, desperate to get to the Rhein Hospital. But as soon as she stood up, a wave of dizziness hit her and she nearly collapsed.

Lexi was stunned by Ophelia’s reaction.

Ophelia had never looked so honestly shaken before.

She was always so sure of herself, but now Lexi could see the shock and pain etched across her face and in her

eyes.

What on earth happened?Lexi wondered.

Ophelia clutched her chest, leaning against the sofa as she tried to steady her breathing. After a long moment, she finally got up and bolted out the door.

Lexi, curious and worried about what news Ophelia had just received, quickly got up and rushed after her.

Lexi tailed Ophelia’s car all the way, never expecting their destination would be the Rhein Hospitalthe one closest to Benwig City Airport.

She followed Ophelia right up to the entrance of the hospital morgue, and that’s when it finally dawned on

her.

Could it beLexi thought. Timothy is dead?

Ophelia stumbled into the morgue, her steps so unsteady it was like she was walking on cotton. She could barely keep herself upright.

The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood. Ted stood in the corner, his face as pale as a sheet, his lips drained of all color.

When he saw Ophelia rush in, a look of anguish crossed his face. He tried to step forward to comfort her, but Ophelia forcefully shoved him aside and snapped, Get out.

Ophelia’s eyes locked onto the body covered by a white sheet on the morgue table. She staggered over, her hands trembling as she reached out and gently lifted a corner of the sheet.

Her chest tightened as her heartbeat sped up.

The moment she lifted the sheet, Ophelia felt her breath freeze. Her eyes flew open, staring in shock at the nightmare in front of her.

It was a wrecked body, clothes ripped to pieces, exposing raw, bloody gashes and snapped bones.

The head was so destroyed, so pulverized, that it was almost too horrific to look at.

Ophelia’s legs gave out, nearly dropping her to the floor. Tears burst from her eyes, flooding down her cheeks uncontrollably.

My sonmy sonOphelia sobbed, her voice breaking with pure despair and pain.

Even though his head was ruined beyond recognition, she knew instantly. It was Timothy. That familiar shape, the memory of his warm smile, flashed through her mind again and again.

How could this happen?Ophelia thought, her head spinning.

Just two hours ago, Timothy was right in front of her, shouting that he didn’t want to leave, that he wanted to stay here. Now, he was nothing but a cold, broken body lying there.

Ophelia felt like her heart was splitting apart. She just couldn’t accept it, couldn’t believe her son was really gone.

Ted. Didn’t I tell you to keep my son safe?Ophelia sobbed uncontrollably, draped over Timothy’s body for what felt like forever. When she finally looked up, she fixed Ted with a look full of pain and accusation.

Ted was crying so hard he couldn’t get a word out. He had no clue how to explain this tragedy to Ophelia.

Speak. Why did my son end up like this?Ophelia demanded again, her voice trembling with heartbreak.

Ted wiped the tears from his face, his voice trembling as he explained, I did exactly as you told me, Mrs. Lowe. I was driving Timothy to the airport, but he kept throwing a fit, demanding to get out.

I was worried he’d actually try to jump out of the car, so I reluctantly pulled over to the side of the road, hoping to calm him down.

As he spoke, his expression twisted with even more pain, like he couldn’t bear to remember what happened

next.

Ted wiped his tears again and continued, The moment I stopped, Timothy jumped out right away.

But just as he stepped onto the road, a car came speeding straight at him, like it was out of control. I didn’t even have time to pull him back.

Ophelia shouted, Just one crash, and my son ended up so mangled?

That wasn’t even the worst of it,” Ted choked out. I was just about to get out and check on him when the car stopped, made a Uturn, and came back to run over Timothy again.

This time, I saw it clear as day. The driver went straight for Timothy’s head. That’s why his head got so messed up

That was why his head was left in such a horrific state.

Ted broke down, unable to continue.

The scene was so gruesome that everyone nearby started screaming in terror.

Tell me, who was it? Who killed my son?Ophelia lunged forward, grabbing Ted by the collar, her voice raw with grief and fury.

Ted finally managed to choke out, It was some lunatic called Mrs. Tooth. The police have already taken her in for questioning.”

Mrs. Tooth?Lexi thought, stunned outside the morgue. She couldn’t believe what she’d just heard.

Ophelia’s eyes blazed with a chilling rage.

She glanced at her son’s body, then steadied herself, clenching her fists. Ted, call my husband and tell him to come to the hospital. Let him handle the arrangements for Timothy. I’m heading to the police station right

now.”

She had to find out who this Mrs. Tooth was, and why she went after her son so ruthlessly.

She was determined to drag Mrs. Tooth’s entire family down with herto make them pay with their lives for what happened to her son.

As Ophelia stepped out of the morgue, she spotted Lexi trailing after her. She stopped dead in her tracks, the heels of her boots thudding against the floor, her glare dripping with malice.

Lexi, are you involved in my son’s death?Ophelia snapped.

Lexi was still stunned by Timothy’s death, but as soon as she heard Ophelia’s accusation, she snapped out of it and quickly regained her composure.

She burst out laughing, genuinely amused and completely unrestrained. So your son really is dead? Well, congratulations.

A parent burying their own childtalk about karma. Too bad you only had one son. Now that he’s gone, you won’t be able to get your hands on all of Justin’s fortune, will you?

Lexi. I knew you were behind this,Ophelia shrieked, losing it like she’d never done before.

Lexi was laughing so hard tears streamed down her face, clapping her hands in glee. Play with fire, get burnedyour son got exactly what he deserved. Maybe you’re next in line.

I’ll make you pay!Ophelia snapped.

With that, she stormed off, her steps shaky but burning with fury.

Lexi glanced back at the morgue, her eyes lingering on the body covered by the white sheet. She watched as Ted frantically called Justin to explain what had happened, then turned and hurried after Ophelia.

She wanted to go to the police station too, to see for herself what really happened to Timothy.

Lexi had heard of Mrs. Tooth before. Nathan had mentioned her once, and she’d even passed that info on to

Victoria.

Mrs. Tooth was supposed to be working for Nathan, so why would she take Timothy out in such a brutal way?

Could Victoria be behind this?Lexi wondered to herself.

If Victoria really did this and the cops traced it back to her, that would be murderforhire. She’d be screwed.

Lexi might wish Timothy and his mom would just kick the bucket already, but she sure as hell didn’t want Victoria getting blood on her hands over a murder.
