Just then, Tracy, her secretary, came in to give her an update. “Director Frank Baker’s casting should wrap up by the next month, and then we’ll officially announce the cast”

“Alright,” Victoria replied.

“But the negative press about Brian and Stephen is still going strong.” Tracy reminded her.

Victoria said, “When we announce the cast, we’ll address the rumors at the same time”

“Great!” Tracy relaxed instantly. With Victoria’s assurance, Brian and Stephen would definitely get their names cleared, and Chasing the Dream wouldn’t take a hit.

Otherwise, she’d really be worried that all the dollars and hard work poured into filming would end up wasted if the movie never gets released.

After Tracy left, Victoria scrolled through the trending topics on all the major social platforms.

Jackson grinned. “The drugging incident at Midnight Blue was way too serious. Over fifty guests ended up in a scandalous mess, and they all filed complaints together. The police acted fast, went straight to Midnight Blue to gather evidence. Since none of the surveillance footage could prove an outsider was behind the drugging, Miranda pleaded guilty and was taken away. According to a lawyer in the loop, this is a big deal–she’s probably facing at least five years in prison.”

“Didn’t expect this old hag to actually take the fall herself this time,” Victoria said, glancing at the tablet before setting the medical kit down on the coffee table. She let out a cold laugh. “I thought she’d never give up her own life, but five years is way too light. She should just die in there.”

She paused, then smirked. “But at her age, if she hears the Clark family went bankrupt while she’s locked up, she might not survive five years anyway.”

Just like she threatened before, Miranda had plenty of evil deeds under her belt, according to Mara’s investigation.

Miranda was the one who first came up with the idea of setting up a training center to trick young girls, all so some powerful men could use them for their pleasure. In her eyes, the only woman who mattered was herself–every other woman was just a plaything.

Jackson caught the dangerous spark in her eyes. “Vickie, with your abilities, you must realize the only reason the Clarks managed to go legit and climb to the top in Benwig–even almost surpassing the Thornton family—is because they’ve got some serious backing behind them.”

Victoria’s lips curled into a sly, dangerous smile. “Yeah, and here’s the kicker: that big shot actually has some connections with Brian. That’s why I was willing to risk Chasing the Dream getting dragged down by him—just so I could put him in the spotlight.”

Jackson mused, “So this is you throwing down the gauntlet? The Clarks have been cozying up to that big shot for years. Now,

He sighed, a bit helpless. “That’s also why my grandpa and I have never been able to make a decisive move against the Clarks all this time.”
