‘Is Steven really thinking of trying the same stunt, letting a few fugitives loose to come after me?’ she wondered. ‘Give me a break. Didn’t Nathan tell him those Zarovnia pros he hired are already locked up?”

She considered that Steven might try to smuggle that Zarovnia pro out of prison and send him after her for revenge, yet she couldn’t shake the feeling that his schemes were never that straightforward.

‘What exactly is he up to? How’s he planning to get back at me?’ she wondered. ‘Is he going to target Brightstar Entertainment, Binder Medical, or Springrise Technologies, as he went after the Thornton family?

“Keep monitoring and investigating,” Victoria ordered.

Mara nodded. “Got it, boss.”

With Ashley still shaken, they left the Benwig City hideout and got into the car. As they drove, Ashley gradually regained her

As soon as Annie realized it was Victoria, she sounded much more awake. “Just woke up, but yeah, I’m free. What’s up?”

Victoria got straight to the point. “I want to buy some gifts, but I have zero experience with this stuff. Can you give me some advice?”

Annie instantly woke up and replied enthusiastically, “Absolutely!”

Victoria continued, “Awesome, I’ll come pick you up. I’ll be there in about half an hour.”

Annie answered, full of excitement, “Okay! I’ll get ready right away!”

After hanging up, Annie bounced out of bed like a spring, muttering, “Oh yeah! Shopping with the legend! This is awesome!”

She made up her mind to dress to impress; no way was she going to embarrass Victoria. Half an hour later, Annie was already standing at her front door, dressed to impress.

She was wearing a bright red coat with a sleek, tailored cut that looked like a burst of sunshine in the winter, paired with a black winter skirt and black ankle boots.

The red coat and black skirt complemented each other perfectly, creating a striking visual contrast. She’d even asked Daisy to help her put this outfit together. It was absolutely stunning.

As soon as Victoria’s car pulled up, Annie rushed over and greeted her warmly, “Hey, Victoria!”

Victoria rolled down the window. “Hop in.”

“Alright!” Annie opened the passenger door and got in, buckling her seatbelt while admiring Victoria. “Did Daisy help you put this look together, too? You look fantastic!”

Victoria smiled. “Yeah, she did.”

Once Annie was settled and buckled in, Victoria hit the gas and headed straight for the biggest mall in Benwig City “Victoria, who are you buying gifts for? Is it for Jackson?” Annie asked, wanting to know the recipient before suggesting the right presents.

Victoria replied, “I’m meeting your cousin’s friends tonight.”

“Oh, I see! Got it!” Annie nodded. “Leave it to me! You won’t have to worry about a thing?

An hour later, the two of them finally arrived at the biggest mall in Beuwig City,

Victoria glanced at Annie and suggested. “You haven’t eaten yet, right? Let’s grab something to ear first so you’ll have the energy for some serious shopping!”

Annie immediately spotted a Barbecue Restaurant. “Victoria, let’s do barbecue!”

“Sure, Victoria didn’t even blink. Annie grabbed Victoria’s hand and practically dragged her inside, bubbling with

excitement.

The place was filled with mouthwatering aromas that made their stomachs rumble. They ordered a mountain of their favorite ingredients and started feasting.

They had an absolute blast with the barbecue, eating to their hearts’ content. While enjoying the feast, they had a great time chatting.

Annie grinned. “Victoria, I haven’t had this much fun eating in forever! Whenever I go for barbecue with my girlfriends, we order like there’s no tomorrow, anything goes!

“But once we’re full, everyone starts dodging responsibility. We all try to figure out who ordered what, and whoever did has to finish it! It cracks me up every time!”

Victoria laughed. “That’s so relatable.”

Annie went on, “That’s why you’re awesome, Victoria! You not only enjoy your food, but you always make sure nothing goes to waste!”

Victoria kept smiling. “I just think wasting food is a shame.”

Annie couldn’t help but admire Victoria even more after hearing that. She thought, ‘For someone as loaded as Victoria, it’s honestly rare to see such simple, genuine values. That’s really something you don’t see every day.

Once they were stuffed, it was time to get down to some real gift shopping. Annie was totally in advisor mode, leading Victoria around and helping her pick out the perfect gifts at all the right stores.

After an hour and a half of browsing, they’d pretty much found everything they needed. Victoria was really happy with the gifts Annie had helped her pick out.
