Chapter 428
Chapter 428
“Xavier, did you see the news about Binder Medical? That’s so satisfying!” Faye called out as she rushed downstairs, her face glowing with excitement. She couldn’t wait to share the news with Xavier, who was lounging on the couch.
Xavier gave a cold smirk. “Yeah, I saw it. Hector got hauled off by the cops. His eyes were glued to his phone screen, keeping up with the latest updates about Binder Medical.
Faye gloated, “Serves her right! Victoria totally crashed and burned this time. Just look at what people are saying online: they’re calling her a jinx, saying the moment she came back, the Binder family got torn to pieces!”
Xavier sneered, “She’s always been a jinx. Victoria’s reputation is ruined now. But honestly, I’m curious, how’s she gonna deal with all this chaos?”
Faye snorted in disdain. “What else can she do? She’s all bark and no bite, totally useless. If Jackson wasn’t backing her up, she wouldn’t be able to do a thing!”
Xavier said, “My guys told me Jackson didn’t even go back to the Thornton Manor last night. He spent the whole night at Binder Medical with Victoria.”
Faye’s eyes widened in surprise, then she scoffed, “Seriously? The family meeting’s just around the corner, and it’s all about who gets to be the next heir. And Jackson’s got the time to mess around with Binder Medical? That’s just stupid.”
Xavier said, “Yeah, ever since he met Victoria, Jackson’s been getting dumber by the day. While he’s busy with Binder Medical, I’m gonna make my move while things are messy and get my next plan rolling.”
Faye blinked, then leaned in, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. “Xavier, what’s your next move?”
Xavier didn’t bother hiding it. “Felix forged some evidence that proves the old man tampered with Chloe’s car. I’ve been racking my brain these past couple of days, trying to figure out how to get Gary to stumble onto it and speed things up.”
Faye suddenly felt a wave of nervousness. “Xavier, this plan has to work.” If it did, she wouldn’t have to go to Afriska.

from a nap Daisy woke up “Simon?” she called out.
and
came downstairs, only to be surprised to see Simon sitting on the couch in the living room.
“Aunt Daisy,” Simon said, a little nervously as he quickly sat up and turned to greet her.
Daisy’s gaze landed on his slightly downcast face. She let out a silent sigh before asking. “Are you here to see Victoria?”
Simon quickly replied, “No, I’m here for you.”
“For me?” Daisy guessed it was about her husband. “Did you talk to Victoria about it?”
“Yeah, I did. Vickie agreed,” Simon explained quickly.
Daisy never had any complaints about Simon. In fact, compared to Curtis, Simon used to come over to Goldenwood Villa all the time when he was a kid, just to hang out with her. But as time went on, they just drifted apart.
Now, suddenly alone with him, Daisy felt a bittersweet sense of how much things had changed. She walked over and sat down on the couch across from him. “I’m fine, but since you’re here, you can keep me company for a while.
Simon nodded. “Yeah”

Chapter 428
He cherished this day with the Binder family. Whether Victoria forgave him or not, he’d already made peace with it.
His family was the one who wronged Victoria first. All he could do now was try to make things right. Forgiveness was her
choice, not his.
As long as Victoria could be happy in the future, that was all that mattered to him. And as long as Hector and Daisy were safe, Victoria would be happy, no doubt.
“Have you had breakfast yet?” Daisy asked.
“Yeah, I already ate,” Simon replied.
Daisy nodded, then told Mabel to make an extra portion for Simon at lunch.
“Honestly, I didn’t think Vickie would let me come over to keep you company,” Simon said with a wry smile. “But she probably isn’t pitying me; she’s just worried you’d be alone at home.”
Daisy sighed. “Curtis left for abroad yesterday, and Victoria didn’t even go to the airport to see him off. Now that she’s letting you come back to the Binder family to keep me company, you should be grateful for that. No need to wonder if she pities you.”
Simon paused, then said, “You’re right, Aunt Daisy. I shouldn’t hope for anything else.”
After a pause, he added, “I’m heading to Mullinran Village tomorrow, so Grandpa won’t be alone out there.”
Daisy asked, “Is that so? Will you be able to get used to living there?”
Simon replied, “I stayed there for a while before. At first, I was just trying to win over the villagers, hoping they’d say something nice about me to Victoria.
“Honestly, I didn’t really fit in back then. But after what happened with my mom, I actually kind of miss how peaceful things were out there.”
Whenever what happened with Julia came up, Daisy still found it pretty scary, even as someone on the outside. She couldn’t imagine how much it must have messed Simon and Curtis up. She didn’t really know what to say about it.
Simon gave a bitter laugh. “Thinking back, ever since Vickie came home, our family kept piling on her. I even hired someone to mess up her face. Then Curtis tampered with her car’s brakes. And my dad even grabbed you to threaten her….
“Honestly, the only one who didn’t actually hurt her was my mom. She said some awful stuff, but never really did anything to her. Maybe that’s why Vickie was willing to help her out.”
Daisy sighed. “Your mom’s words might’ve been harsh, but that’s not a reason for her to die. Vickie’s a good kid. She might hate you all, but she knows how to do the right thing.”
“Aunt Daisy, you and Uncle Hector are the only ones truly worthy of being Vickie’s parents,” Simon said. “The rest of us don’t deserve to be called her family.” He said with conviction, “I know Uncle Hector’s going to be okay. I really believe in Vickie.”
Daisy smiled. “I do too.”
And just like that, Simon spent the whole day with Daisy at the Binder family home. It was just like when he was young. they didn’t do much, just talked.
Back then, their conversations were all about childhood fun. Now, they were reminiscing about those memories. It wasn’t until dinner time that Victoria finally came home.
When Simon saw her, he stood up from the couch, started to say something, but held back.

Daisy noticed Victoria had come back alone, without Hector. A flicker of disappo
herself and greeted her gently. “Victoria, you’re back.”
“Yeah Victoria nodded.
“You must be tired after such a long day. Mabel just finished making dinner so eat up and get some rest og nysaud then turned to Simon. “Simon, why don’t you stay for dinner? With your mom and Cartas ef you’d just be yourself anyway”
Simon looked at Victoria, hopeful but a little anxious. “Is that okay?”
Victoria shot him a glance. “Suit yourself. You’re leaving tomorrow anyway.
Simon’s eyes brightened. He’d been about to leave, but now he settled back onto the couch
After Mabel set the food on the table, Daisy didn’t ask about the investigation at Binder Medical She didn Victoria out, so she just kept piling food onto her plate, telling her to eat up after such a long day.
“Yeah” Victoria nodded, digging in with big bites.
Simon held his fork, watching Victoria wolf down her food. He wanted to do something, but didn’t kn quietly ate his own meal.
This is already pretty great, Simon thought. At least I get to have dinner with Vickie before I leave.
