Chapter 437
Gerry sighed. “After all this, whether you believe me or not, I just want you to know, your mother caused by my decision to send your brother away. But I never meant to hurt her.
“You can blame me, hate me, whatever you want. But I hope you’ll keep the Thornton family strong
“I’m getting old, and I don’t have much time left. I never imagined Felix and Xavier’s ambition would go so far, they’re eve willing to put my life on the line just to snatch the heir’s spot.
“If that’s what it takes, then maybe sacrificing myself to finally kill their ambitions and secure your place as the heir 1502 a bad thing”
With things as they were, unless the Thornton family was handed over to either the third or fourth branch, those two families would never back down.
Thinking about all this, Gerry’s heart ached for his eldest grandson, Jackson.
No matter what, Felix and Xavier at least had their parents and siblings supporting them. But Jackson was fighting this w all alone.
The brother he thought he had was a fake, and his real brother was still missing.
Then, Jackson’s father, Donald, wasn’t just useless. He was dead weight, always holding Jackson back and even betraying him when he least expected it.
But at least… he had Victoria by his side now.
Victoria was a real powerhouse; capable, loyal, and someone who truly cared about the people close to her.
Meeting Victoria was like hitting the jackpot. He must’ve used up all the luck he had in this lifetime.
Gerry pulled himself together and said seriously, “Jackson, since you’ve been honest with me, if you still trust me, I’ll do as you wish. We’ll put on a show that’ll make the third and fourth branches finally give up on fighting for the heir’s spot
But Jackson replied, “Actually, Grandpa, it’s you who needs to trust me. If anything goes wrong, your life could really be at risk.”
Gerry said, “Doesn’t matter. Honestly, I want to see if those two grandsons of mine really see me as nothing but a chess piece, if they’re actually willing to go as far as killing me just for power.”
Jackson said, “I’ll keep you safe, Grandpa.”
After a moment of silence, Gerry said, “I heard you can
stand up now.”
Jackson nodded. “Yeah, I can manage a few steps.”
Gerry said, “Let me see.”
Jackson held onto the wheelchair, slowly stood up, walked forward a few steps, then carefully backed up and sat down agun
The seriousness in Gerry’s eyes finally faded, replaced by a genuine sense of relief. “Looks like you really made the right call
with Victoria.”
He sighed again. “Kid, meeting that girl is winning lottery. Make sure you treasure her, don’t end up like me, only realizing I loved your grandma after she was gone.”

Gary nodded.
After Ollie wheeled Jackson out, Gary looked up, staring toward the second–floor study in the old house. His eyes turned cold and grim
As they left the library, Ollie asked, “Has Grandpa figured out Gary’s true identity and intentions?”
Jackson nodded. “Yeah. Now it’s time to lure the snakes out and catch them red–handed.”
His legs were almost back to normal, and nothing was going to ruin his big day with Vickie.
So, he was dead set on taking down Felix and Xavier’s families before the end of the month, making sure they’d never get back up again.

Noon, at the Thornton Group office, Jackson was focused on his work when his phone rang. He glanced at the screen, it was Victoria calling.
“Jack, I’m swamped with the lawsuit all day, so I really can’t squeeze in your treatment,” Victoria explained. “So, how about you come over to my place tonight? I’ll take care of you then.”
Jackson grinned and agreed right away. “Alright, see you tonight.”
“See you!” Victoria replied.
Night fell, and the city lights began to twinkle.
After work, Jackson called Gerry to let him know he wouldn’t be coming home for dinner, then headed straight to the Binder family’s place.
Daisy had just brought out a plate of fruit when she saw Jackson and smiled, “Jack, you’re here! Victoria told me you’d be coming over tonight, so I had Mabel make your favorite dishes.”
Hearing Daisy call him “Jack” made Jackson feel like he was back in the days when his mom used to call him that. For a split second, he was lost in the memory.
Jackson only snapped out of it when he heard Victoria’s voice behind him. “Jack, you’re here! What a coincidence. Dad and I just got back too!”
Jackson finally shook off his thoughts and smiled at Victoria. “Your mom made my favorite for dinner?”
