Victoria stressed that Angelica was the Binder family’s adopted daughter.

She’d been back with the Binders for several days, but Darell and Julia had kept quiet about Angelica being their adopted daughter.
At this welcome party, most of the elite families were still clueless, thinking Angelica was the Binder family’s true heiress.
Only those close to the family or those who’d been digging for gossip knew the real story.
Since Darell and Julia were so intent on protecting Angelica’s place in the family, Victoria was determined to reveal the truth n front of everyone.
As expected, the guests were shocked the moment Victoria finished speaking.
Angelica is adopted?” someone blurted out.
I never heard about that. I just knew the Binder family brought back a daughter, and I thought she was Hector and Daisy’s biological child. The couple seems to care more about Victoria,” another guest whispered.
Yeah, that’s what was written on the invitation, too,” someone else chimed in.
Angelica never expected Victoria to not only expose her identity of the adopted daughter but even bring up the matching dress incident herself.
She had no clue what Victoria was planning.
She’s just worried that wearing a knockoff will make high society look down on her, Angelica sneered inwardly.
Angelica could feel everyone’s eyes darting between her and Victoria, and she guessed that the fact that she was adopted was way juicier than any dress scandal.
Nonsense! How could we know what gown you’d wear tonight, let alone deliberately have Angelica wear the same one? Stop hrowing baseless accusations,” Julia shot back.
Curtis hadn’t expected things to turn against Angelica.
No way. I have to turn things around for Angelica. I can’t let her become the center of everyone’s gossip!‘ Curtis thought.
Curtis raised his voice. “Exactly, Victoria. I personally picked out this dress for Angelica. I never even cared what you were going to wear tonight.”
He paused and then said with a hint of disdain, “And that dress you’re wearing isn’t a fake, is it? I’ve kept an eye on this gown for a long time. There’s only one in the world.
“I had to pull some strings just to get it for Angelica. So if hers is the real deal, doesn’t that mean yours is just a knockoff?
“You’re back with the Binder family now, and this whole party is for you. How could you show up in something not even presentable, resorting to a fake dress?”
Once Curtis spoke up, others quickly joined in, gossiping loudly.
“That’s right. I’ve kept an eye on that gown, too. There’s only one in the world,” someone agreed.
“Oh my god, wearing a knockoff at her own welcome party? How embarrassing,” another guest gasped.

“Figures, she really has no sense of style, just like a country bumpkin,” someone else sneered.

“But the two dresses look almost identical. Who can even tell which one’s real and which one’s fake?” someone pointed out.
Another guest scoffed, “Seriously? Angelica would never wear a knockoff. She’s been to tons of these parties. Why would she bother? But Victoria is a different story.
“She’s new to all this, probably just thought the dress looked pretty, heard the real one was already taken, so she went for a knockoff instead. Too bad for her, the real deal ended up on Angelica.”
“Yeah, that checks out,” someone else agreed.
Seeing everyone’s attention shift to the dresses, Angelica quietly let out a sigh of relief.
Curtis looked at Victoria with a smug grin, thinking, ‘Let’s see how she tries to wriggle out of this one now.”
Julia took the chance to fan the flame. “Daisy, Victoria’s been stuck in the countryside for ages. She doesn’t get how big a deal it is for people like us to wear fakes.
“But you know the rules, right? Since you brought her back, you really ought to teach her how things work around here.”
Plenty of people glanced at Jackson with sympathy.
“If I were Jackson, I’d be mortified to be engaged to her,” someone muttered.
“Jackson should just call off the engagement. Even if he can’t marry Angelica because of his legs, he doesn’t have to end up with Victoria, who can’t even fit in with us,” another guest scoffed.
Jackson spoke up gently, “No need for anyone to worry about my engagement to Victoria. She’s my fiancée, and I trust her. Whatever she says or does, I know she’s always right.”
Even though Jackson spoke softly, everyone could sense he was standing firmly by Victoria’s side.
Calvin and Gerry were watching Victoria closely, waiting to see how she’d deal with all the drama.
Calvin wondered if his granddaughter was really capable of running the Binder family business, like she said herself.
Gerry was curious how the true heiress of the Binder family managed to catch the attention of his favorite grandson.
Victoria gave a relaxed laugh, unbothered by the doubts. She looked at Curtis and said, “Really? Curtis, you seriously didn’t pay any attention to what I’d be wearing tonight?”
Curtis replied with total confidence, “Of course not. You’re not my sister, so why should I care what you’re wearing?”
Victoria raised an eyebrow. “Like I said, because you and Julia just wanted to embarrass me in front of everyone tonight.”
Darell said sternly, “Victoria, you’d better have proof for what you’re saying. So many people are here tonight. This isn’t the time for you to stir up trouble.”
Victoria fired back, “Come on, Uncle Darell, every time I call you out, you say I’m causing trouble. When have I ever made a fuss?
“I was swapped at birth by Angelica’s mom, and you and Julia wouldn’t even reunite with me because of her. So I turned to Uncle Hector and Daisy instead.
“You all thought I was just being dramatic, but I even signed that agreement to cut ties with you. Looks like I wasn’t the one

making trouble after all, huh?”

Seeing her shift the topic again, Darell’s face turned sour. “Victoria, don’t air our dirty laundry in public!”
Victoria raised her brows in mock surprise. “Wow, so you do know this is embarrassing? Your own daughter got swapped, and you raised your enemy’s kid for twenty years.
“Now that you’ve found your real daughter, you still choose the enemy’s daughter over your own. That’s totally embarrassing.”
She patted her cheek, shaking her head. “If it were me, and I treated my own kid like that, I’d be too ashamed to stand here.”
Murmurs of disbelief rippled through the crowd as the guests took in Victoria’s words.
“That’s pretty harsh, isn’t it? How could they disown their own daughter?” someone whispered.
“But even if Angelica isn’t their real child, they’ve raised her for twenty years. There’s bound to be some attachment,” another guest pointed out.
“Still, no matter how close they get, it’s just not the same as your own flesh and blood,” someone else chimed in.
Seeing things were going south, Julia quickly said, “Calvin, are you just going to stand there and let Victoria keep slandering us all night?”
Calvin snorted. “You guys brought this on yourselves. Tonight is Victoria’s welcome party.
‘And of all the outfits you could have picked for Angelica, you went with the same gown as Victoria. How am I supposed to believe that wasn’t intentional?”
Victoria immediately grinned. “Grandpa, you really see right through them.”
Curtis finally snapped. “Enough, Victoria! Don’t think you can keep saying that Angelica’s adopted as if that’ll distract everyone from the fact you’re wearing a knockoff tonight and making the Binder family look bad.”
Victoria couldn’t help but chuckle. “Curtis, what makes you so sure my dress is a fake?”
She scanned the room, her gaze finally settling on Angelica, who’d been trying to stay out of it.
She smiled. “And as for whether Angelica wore the same dress as me tonight just to make me look bad at my own welcome party, I’ve got proof.”
