Pierre finally let out a sigh of relief. “That’s good. If Jackson becomes the heir, I’ll be in deep trouble!”

After Felix and Xavier left, Gerry asked, “Jackson, did you really want me to go pick up your brother myself?”

He was genuinely surprised to find out that Stephen, the famous actor, was actually Jackson’s real brother and his own grandson.

No wonder Stephen had given him such a complicated look at Victoria’s birthday party last time.

Jackson nodded. “Yeah, I bumped into Gary on my way back. He insisted on it, and he also wants you to apologize to my brother face–to–face.”

In the past, Gerry would’ve thought that kind of request was totally unreasonable.

But now that he was getting old, and after all the family drama he’d been through, plus everything Jackson’s family had suffered, he knew he couldn’t pretend it had nothing to do with him.

So even though he knew Gary was up to something, he was still willing to make amends and try to atone for his past mistakes.

After a moment of silence, Gerry said, “I was the one who wronged your brother first. So I’ll do as Gary asked. Tomorrow, I’ll go pick him up myself and apologize to him face–to–face.”

Jackson noticed that Gerry didn’t mention the possibility that Gary might use this opportunity to take revenge on him, so he decided not to bring it up either.

Maybe this was his grandfather’s last test for him.

Jackson grinned. “With Vickie by my side, I can take on anything.”

Gerry said seriously, “Jackson, have someone spread the word that tomorrow I’ll personally bring your brother back to the Thornton family. First thing in the morning, I’ll go pick him up myself and welcome him home as family.”

Early the next morning, the news that Gerry would personally bring his grandson back to the old Thornton family estate had already been released, quickly becoming a major headline in Benwig City’s social circles.

Dozens of reporters were already staking out the gates of the old estate, all waiting to capture the highly anticipated recognition ceremony on camera.

Pierre and Faye’s cars blended in with the crowd of reporters and social media bloggers who were there to catch the action.

Felix and Xavier didn’t bother showing up in person. Instead, they watched the live stream at the office, thanks to the videos Pierre and Faye were sending over.

Pierre spotted Faye’s car, rolled down his window, and called out, “Hey Faye, you’re here too?”

Just then, a white Maserati rolled up in front of the Thornton family estate.

“Shit! Why the hell is that bitch Victoria here too?” Pierre yelled, instantly losing his cool the second he spotted her.

Faye was fuming as well. Even now, just remembering how Victoria had poisoned her and made her suffer for days still made her blood boil.

“Looks like Victoria’s joining Jackson and Gerry to pick him up,” Faye guessed.

Pierre snorted. “Works for me. If Gary really makes a move today, I hope he gets rid of Victoria too!”

Faye shot Pierre a look. “Keep it down. If anyone hears you, we’re screwed.”

Pierre scoffed, but didn’t say anything more about Gary. Like Faye, he was shooting daggers at Victoria, who was waiting by the gate.

Meanwhile, Stephen had barely slept a wink after seeing the news last night that Gerry would personally come to pick him up and apologize. He got up early this morning to get himself ready.

But when he stepped out of his room, to his surprise, he saw Gary sitting on the couch.

“Gary? Why are you up so early?” Stephen asked.

Gary didn’t say a word, as if he didn’t even hear him.

Soon, Stephen caught the smell of smoke. He stopped in his tracks and hurried over. He was shocked to see Gary smoking.
