But no matter what, Angelica refused to believe that a girl who had been missing for reenty years could replace her place in the Binder family.
For twenty years, she had worked for everything she had. She had grown up beautiful and polished. She excelled in art. music, and dance. She spoke multiple languages fluently.
In school, she had won award after award in competitions. At sixteen, she had already been accepted into the best art university in Benwig City.
She had been meant to go abroad after graduation, to continue her studies. But now, because Victoria had appeared, everything had been put on hold.
Still, Angelica was certain of one thing. Sooner or later, she would make Victoria understand exactly who she had chosen to stand against,
Daisy noticed Angelica pacing outside their front door, her expression conflicted. She nudged Hector beside her. Angelica was carrying, several garment bags from luxury boutiques.
Hector glanced outside, his brows pulling together slightly.
“I’ll go see what she wants, Daisy said, setting down her tablet as she started to stand.
Hector stopped her. “I’ll go” He still remembered that flash of malice in Angelica’s eyes when she had looked at Daisy.
He stepped outside. “Angelica, what are you doing here?”
“Uncle Hector.” Angelica hesitated, then said softly “Victoria just came back to the Binder family. I was worried she wouldn’t have anything to wear, so I brought her some I’ve never worn.”
She lifted the bags slightly. “Uncle Hector, can come in?
Hector studied her for a moment. Seeing nothing out of place, he stepped aside. “Of course. Come in.”
“Thank you, Uncle Hector, Angelica smiled politely as she followed him inside. When she saw Daisy on the sofa, she smiled gracefully. “Aunt Daisy.”
Daisy gave a small nod but didn’t say a word.
Angelica looked back at Hector. “Uncle Hector, which room is Victoria in?”
“The middle room on the third floor,” he said.
“Okay, I’ll take these up to her. She carried the bags upstairs.
Daisy watched her go, worry creeping into her voice. “Victoria doesn’t like her. Maybe I should go check on them.”
Hector shook his head. “Let Victoria handle it. She’s smart. She’ll deal with it.
Daisy hesitated, then sighed softly and picked up her tablet again. “Still, we should get Victoria some clothes. I’ll call the boutique and have them send over pictures of their latest styles.”
Upstairs, Angelica stopped in front of the middle room and knocked.
