Chapter 94
She said: [Why are you so hung up on me?]
Gavin replied: [Because you saved me, and when I was dirt poor, you never looked down on me. Now that I’m loaded, I know I’ll never find another girl like you–someone who’s not just after my money.]
Victoria never cared if someone was rich or poor. She’d never lacked money herself.
And when it came to saving people, she’d do it out of professional habit, even if it was just a dying dog on the street.
Victoria finally replied: [Gavin, I would’ve saved anyone–even a dog. It had nothing to do with you. You’ve already done plenty to pay me back for saving you. You don’t owe me anymore.]
After sending the message, she put her phone down and went to sleep, ignoring Gavin completely.
Victoria slept soundly all night.
When she woke up the next morning, she saw Gavin’s latest message.
He said: [I’m not giving up. Jackson is basically a cripple. He can’t even perform as a man. I’m not letting you marry him and end up a widow before you even start.]
‘What a lunatic. Victoria thought.
Not long after, Daisy and Hector showed up with breakfast.
Hector set the food down and said, “Victoria, the doctor said your injuries aren’t serious. Just a couple more days of observation, and if everything checks out, you can go home.”
Victoria nodded. “Great.”
Watching her enjoy her breakfast, Hector said, “Just keep resting these next couple of days. Leave everything else to your mom and me.”
Victoria paused and then asked, “Dad, are you talking about Curtis? Mom already told me that the car I hit was his. He’s way worse off than I am. They managed to save him yesterday, but he’s still out cold.”
“Yeah,” Hector nodded. “I asked the doctor about Curtis too. Still no sign of him waking up today.”
Victoria thought for a moment. “I see…”
Hector gave her a heads–up. “Once Darell and Julia find out it was your car that hit Curtis’s, they’re going to come after you. Don’t worry about them. Your mom and I have your back.”
Speak of the devil, and he showed up.

Chapter 94
The hospital room door was suddenly thrown open. Julia stormed in, eyes red and swollen, cursing as she barged in.
“Victoria, you damned bitch! Why did you hurt my son?” she screamed.
Hector spun around and stepped right in front of her, blocking her path without hesitation.
“Move! I’m going to kill Victoria. If it wasn’t for her, Curtis wouldn’t be hurt so badly!” Julia screamed, trying to shove Hector out of the way, but after crying all night, she was too weak to even budge him.
Hector stood his ground. “This was just an accident. Victoria didn’t mean for it to happen. Why are you taking it out on her?”
Julia shot back, her voice full of conviction., “Hector, you don’t have kids of your own, so you can’t possibly understand how painful it is when your child gets hurt.
“It’s easy for you to talk when it’s not your kid. Victoria did it on purpose. That cruel, heartless bitch wanted Curtis dead.”
