Calvin and Darell stepped into the hospital room.

The moment Darell walked in, his eyes zeroed in on Victoria Binder lying on the bed, like he was ready to wring her neck any second.

Angelica Pinder and Simon followed right on their heels, both with dark looks on their faces.

Angelica honestly never expected Victoria to actually go that far against Curtis. She really didn’t hold back.

She had no doubt Victoria was behind Curtis’s suffering.

Simon felt a lot more conflicted. He knew Curtis was planning to pick a fight with Victoria, but he never thought it would turn out this disastrous. Curtis nearly died.

Now that Curtis was in a coma, he might as well be dead.

And Simon still had no clue what Victoria was up to with that shot she gave Curtis yesterday.

Victoria tossed the last bite of her bun into her mouth, chewing slowly as she scanned the hospital room. She couldn’t help but snicker to herself. Everyone from the Binder family is here, except Curtis, all over again.

Calvin, with Darell’s help, settled into a chair. He looked at Victoria, who wasn’t looking much better herself, and quietly rebuked Julia, “Victoria got hurt in the crash too. Do you really think she’d risk her own life just to hurt Curtis?”

Julia retorted, “Dad, what are the odds? Her car just happened to smash into Curtis’s. I never cared about your favoritism before, but this is about my son’s life.

“I won’t let you cover for her this time. If Victoria doesn’t give us an explanation, I’ll do whatever it takes to make her pay

As she said this, she glanced at her husband, hoping he’d speak up for her.

Darell spoke up seriously, “Dad, Julia’s right. If Victoria wasn’t doing it on purpose, how could her car just happen to hit Curtis’s? I hope you won’t keep siding with Hector and Daisy like you always did.

“This time, you need to deal with this fairly and give us some answers. Otherwise, how can you face Curtis, who’s still lying there in a coma? He’s your grandson, the one you raised yourself.”

Hearing her grandpa speak up, Victoria finally said, “Calvin, my brakes failed. No matter what I did, I just couldn’t stop the car. All I could do was keep driving, hoping the car would stop once it ran out of gas.”

Simon’s face grew even darker,

If Victoria was telling the truth, then Curtis must have tampered with her brakes.

He just hoped Curtis had cleaned up after himself.

Hopefully Curtis didn’t nearly get himself killed, only to be found out as the real culprit in the end.

It finally clicked for Angelica. So when Curtis said he was going to get back at Victoria, he meant messing with her car.

But she never saw it coming that Victoria’s car would end up crashing right into Darell’s.

Julia scoffed, “Even if your brakes really did fail, Benwig City’s huge. There are so many roads and cars. Why did you just happen to be on the same street as Curtis? Of all the cars out there, you just had to crash into his?”

Victoria replied coldly, “Julia, don’t act like you’re innocent when you’re the one stirring things up. My brakes suddenly went out, and honestly, I have good reason to believe Curtis was behind it.”

As soon as Victoria said that, everyone in the hospital room was stunned into silence.

Julia snapped, “Please. Just because my son’s still out cold doesn’t mean you get to drag his name through the mud.”

Victoria scoffed, “If you want to know whether I’m trash–talking Curtis, just ask your son and your adopted daughter. They know exactly what’s up.”

Angelica, now called out, shot back, sounding all righteous, “Victoria, since you brought me up, I’ll say it straight. You’re just using this to throw dirt on Curtis.”

Simon stayed silent.

Julia glared fiercely at Victoria. “Did you hear that?” She turned to Angelica, urging her, “Angelica, if you know anything, speak up. With Grandpa here, he’ll make sure Curtis gets justice.”

Angelica recapped how she got messed with at Mimiburg yesterday, telling everyone how she was played for a fool.

Then she added, “Mom said Victoria made it clear she came back to the Binder family just to wreck our family. So she’s got every reason to take advantage of Curtis being in a coma, set him blame him for the accident.”

Calvin snapped, “Call the cops? What, you want everyone to know our family’s mess?”

Julia retorted angrily, “Well, that all depends on how you’re going to deal with Victoria.”

After hearing Angelica’s story, Calvin didn’t jump straight to blaming Victoria. Instead, he said, “I had Milton call the traffic police first thing this morning. Turns out, Victoria’s brakes really did fail.”

Milton nodded in agreement. “That’s right. Just like Miss Victoria said, her car’s brakes showed signs of damage. From the traffic police’s footage, her car never slowed down at all; looks like the brakes really were shot.

Darell frowned, a sinking feeling gnawing at him. He kept his gaze fixed on Victoria, hoping to spot even the slightest flicker of panic or guilt on her face.

But he found nothing. She was way too calm.

Julia was so furious at Daisy’s words that she was shaking all over. “You… you…”

Victoria shot back with a sneer, “Julia, when I said I wanted to ruin your family, I meant your business–not your lives. Me and my parents are going to inherit everything from the Binder family, and honestly, your lives are worthless to me.

“Watching you all squirm and make fools of yourselves after losing everything, while you’re still alive, is way more entertaining than seeing you dead.”
