**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 11**
**CONTENT: Chapter 11**
**Amelia POV**
Forget about the suitcase. Forget about my car. All I had was my wallet, containing my ID, enough to guide me back to the human realm, a sturdy pair of hiking boots, and my quick thinking. That would have to suffice.
With determination coursing through me, I strode purposefully to the door and rapped sharply on it. “Lydia! I need to speak with you!”
Moments later, the door creaked open, revealing Lydia. She scrutinized me with a mix of wariness and curiosity.
“I understand you’re under strict orders to keep me confined, but I assure you, I really am pregnant. I can’t stay locked up indoors all day. I desperately need some fresh air.”
“Pregnant,” Lydia echoed slowly, her gaze traveling over me as if assessing the truth of my claim. It was clear she was skeptical.
A flicker of hope ignited within me as I recalled the report. Perhaps this time, someone would actually believe me!
“I have proof,” I insisted, my voice steady despite the rising tension. “I was at the hospital recently, undergoing tests to confirm my pregnancy. The documents are in my suitcase, right by the front door. You can check for yourself.”
Lydia hesitated, caught in a web of uncertainty, weighing whether this was a ploy or a genuine plea. Fair enough, it was a trick. But it was also the truth.
After what felt like an eternity, she finally nodded. With a swift motion, she closed the door, and I heard her instructing someone to fetch my suitcase. Smart move—she wasn’t about to leave the door unattended.
I knew I had to be incredibly quick, extraordinarily clever, and uncharacteristically lucky to escape her vigilant watch.
Before long, Lydia returned, suitcase in hand, and stood by as I opened it and began to rummage through the contents.
“Here! Look!” I exclaimed, pulling out the report and flipping to the page where Dr. Wyatt had noted my pregnancy, indicating that I was about two months along. “I’m carrying Damien’s child.”
Lydia took her time, meticulously scanning the report, her brow furrowing in concentration. “This does confirm your pregnancy,” she remarked, her tone measured. “But it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the Alpha’s baby,” she added, her voice firm, cutting off any protests I might have made. “However, I agree that you need some time outdoors.”
