Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 118

Chapter 118

“I wouldn’t ask you if it wasn’t important…”

“I’m sorry, Amelia, but the answer is no.”

“Even if Ethan dies?”

Cara’s face hardened. “He is not who I’ve sworn to protect.”

In a way, I admired her. She was as stubborn about saving me as I was about rushing into danger.

“Think of your child,” Cara said.

I cursed, hating how helpless I felt. But, knowing Ethan’s condition, he didn’t have long if he wasn’t given the cure now. What I was doing here? Waiting for another dosage? It was a waste. It would never be done in time, whether or not Cara actually stayed behind to protect it.

“Fine,” I said, making my decision. “Come on, then.”

It was a difficult choice, but one I couldn’t change once my heart was set on it.

The members of this pack hated me, but they didn’t hate Ethan. I had to depend on that, or he was already dead.

The first floor of the hospital was chaotic, with people running around, mostly in and out of Ethan’s room.

I saw no sign of Damien, and wondered if he had gone outside to try to stop the protest before it truly became a

mob.

“Amelia!” Dr. Wyatt shouted, spotting me through the chaos. “What are you doing down here?”

“I need to speak to everyone,” I said. “Is there some kind of speaker system or…”

“Yes,” Dr. Wyatt said. She seemed unsure, but in the chaos, there was no time for doubt. She led me to one of the nurses’ stations. Lifting one of the landline phones, she pressed a button. When she spoke into the handset, I heard her voice on the speaker. “Attention all hospital personal. Attention.”

She passed the phone over to me.

I took a steadying breath, then spoke. “This is Amelia. I was once a pack member here, as I’m sure most of you

know.”

Around me, I watched as the chaos seemed to pause, as some stopped to listen to me. Those that could see me glared.

Cara stepped in front of me, crossing her arms, ever a looming, protective presence.

I gathered my courage, my strength, and my hope and continued, “Most of you hate me. Maybe you even have reason to. Maybe you question my sincerity in even being here. But please… I am begging of you. Do not let that distrust of me to blind you to what is happening here.”

My voice wavered, my emotions clear. “If the cure that was taken is not returned, Ethan will die. Please. Whatever you think of me, do not let that hatred interfere with saving a man’s life. He is a good man. A loyal Beta. He deserves this chance!”

Frustrated tears filled my eyes. They started to fall as people just looked at me, no one moving, no one offering to help.

I was the enemy here, and they would rather let Ethan die than to even give me a chance to prove myself otherwise.

From Ethan’s room, Eve shouted loud enough for all to hear. “The potion! Now! We are at the end!”

Ethan flat-lined. Alarms sounding wildly down the hall. A red light flashed above his door.

Would no one help him? Was their hated for me so strong?

Then I saw it, the bottle.

A nurse was holding it up.

It didn’t matter who she was or where she came from.

At once, I dropped the phone and started running.
