Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 125

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 125**
**Chapter 125**

**Amelia’s POV**

I was completely unprepared for the sight of Damien here.

As I stood amidst the lively atmosphere of the event, it began to dawn on me that this was indeed a joint pack gathering. Every pack within the kingdom was expected to send representatives, and logically, Damien could very well be among them.

Yet, in the whirlwind of excitement surrounding the award ceremony and the travel arrangements, I had failed to consider that he might actually make the trip. The thought of seeing him again, especially in this context, had never crossed my mind.

Suddenly, our eyes met, and a jolt of electricity coursed through me. Damien’s gaze was intense, and my cheeks flushed a deep crimson. I quickly averted my eyes, desperate to refocus on the mustachioed man who had been standing beside me. But to my dismay, he had vanished, leaving me feeling slightly abandoned. I turned my head just in time to see him a few feet away, animatedly gesturing towards a woman clad in a deep purple dress, complemented by a matching blazer.

The woman, with an effervescent smile that seemed to light up the room, hurried over to us. “Alpha Jake! And Healer Amelia! What a delight it is to finally meet you both! I’m Ruby, one of the event organizers.”

I made a conscious effort to redirect my full attention to Ruby as she greeted me warmly. However, every nerve in my body was prickling with awareness of Damien’s presence lingering just behind me. He was likely checking in at the hotel, and though I couldn’t see him, I could feel him there, an undeniable force that drew my thoughts like a moth to a flame.

Jake, on the other hand, was tracking Damien with a keen intensity that bordered on glaring. He was completely ignoring Ruby, his focus unwavering as he shot daggers in Damien’s direction. This wasn’t typical behavior for Jake; he was usually gracious and polite. Yet, there was something about Damien that seemed to awaken a primal protectiveness in Jake, a fierce need to assert his dominance.

Perhaps it was unfair to label it as the ‘worst’ of Jake. Alpha werewolves had a way of igniting the more aggressive instincts in their counterparts, and I could see it clearly. Jake was protective, while Damien radiated possessiveness.

When Jake’s body tensed, I instinctively braced myself, anticipating Damien’s approach. But when I risked a glance over my shoulder, I was surprised to see Damien leaving the front desk, heading towards the elevators without a single glance in our direction. He didn’t seem inclined to approach either Jake or me, which left a strange emptiness in the air.

“Oh, absolutely,” Ruby continued, her enthusiasm contagious. “Why wouldn’t he? After all, it was his Beta who benefited from your remarkable cure. He even penned a lengthy and detailed letter nominating you.”

It made sense, yet I found it hard to fully grasp the reality of the situation. During our time together, I had played the role of Damien’s housewife, never truly entrusted with the responsibilities of Luna. He had never believed I was capable of carrying his heir.

Now, I was expected to believe that he had undergone a transformation? That he could finally see me for my own merits, enough to advocate for me on a kingdom-wide level?

The notion felt almost surreal. People didn’t change; at least, not so swiftly.

Ruby struck me as the diplomatic type, the kind of person who would skillfully deliver unpleasant news wrapped in a positive spin. Yet, that didn’t make her a liar. As an event organizer, she possessed insider knowledge and likely had no reason to mislead me. Her sincerity was palpable, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that perhaps, just perhaps, there was a kernel of truth in her words.
