Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 137

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 137**
**Chapter 137**

**Amelia’s POV**

To my utter astonishment, Damien refrained from entering the car I had selected. It was as if he had made a conscious choice not to accompany us to the hospital for my examination. Even after he opted to travel in a separate vehicle, I clung to the hope that he might still decide to join us at the hospital. Yet, as Cara and I strolled through the sterile hallways leading to my exam room, I couldn’t shake the feeling that he might unexpectedly appear around any corner, his familiar presence bringing a mix of comfort and confusion.

His absence gnawed at me, a persistent reminder that he was still woven into the fabric of my thoughts. Even when he wasn’t physically present, it felt as if he was an indelible shadow, haunting my mind and refusing to be exorcised.

Reaching the exam room was almost a relief, for it meant I could finally focus on something other than the tumultuous emotions swirling within me. Dr. Wyatt was waiting, her presence a beacon of professionalism and warmth. With her, I could immerse myself in the examination and momentarily forget about Damien and the chaos he stirred within me.

My attention shifted to my own health and that of our unborn child. It was a stark reminder that, despite the emotional upheaval, there was a life growing inside me that needed my full attention. Yet, I couldn’t help but reflect on the fact that Damien hadn’t missed a single appointment since we began this journey. Where could he be now? What could possibly be so important that it kept him from being here with me?

A whirlwind of conflicting emotions surged through me, a familiar pattern whenever Damien entered the equation. I craved his presence, yet part of me was relieved he was absent. I loved him deeply, but there was also an underlying current of fear that accompanied those feelings. I longed for him to desire me, yet I felt an urgent need to forge my own path, to find my independence.

No matter how hard I tried to navigate through this mental labyrinth, the knots in my mind remained tangled, stubbornly refusing to unravel. Being part of his pack, feeling so close to him yet so distant, only intensified my turmoil, amplifying my feelings like a deafening echo in a confined space.

“Amelia!” Dr. Wyatt’s voice broke through my reverie. Our relationship had evolved beyond the typical doctor-patient dynamic; we had crossed into the realm of friendship. We embraced each other warmly, the gesture filled with mutual understanding. As we pulled away, she leaned in closer, her voice a soft whisper, “You are so brave.”

“I’m just doing what anyone would do,” I replied, attempting to downplay her compliment.

“That’s not entirely true,” Dr. Wyatt countered gently. “Others might run away, choosing safety over duty. But you, you dive headfirst into danger, prioritizing the safety of others above your own.”
