Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 162

Chapter 162

Amelia’s POV

I startled awake, unsure how I even came to be asleep. Blinking up, I saw the Alpha King hovering over me, looking down at me with judgment darkening his eyes.

Embarrassment rushed through me. I couldn’t believe I had fallen asleep. I still was uncertain how exactly I had done so. With my life on the line, it shouldn’t have been possible, yet even now I could feel my limbs weighed down. Without the pain shooting through me, I could probably just fall asleep on my feet.

The disapproving scowl of the Alpha King kept my eyes opened for now. Fortunately, other than looking annoyed, he didn’t bring up the fact that I had just fallen asleep when I should have been here shaking with fear about this

conversation.

Now that I was awake, the Alpha King stepped back, crossed his arms and looked at me.

“Your witch powers are strong,” he said. “How did you come to have such powers?”

Ah, was this the interrogation part of this meeting?

Okay. To maintain my cover here, I needed to continue to convince the Alpha King that I was indeed a witch like I had previous lied about. The only problem that I could see… I genuinely had no idea how witches worked in the werewolf world.

All of my witchy knowledge came from television, movies, and Halloween specials in the human realm. That probably wasn’t accurate, not even there, but this was all I had to go on.

I tried to think of some origin stories of the witches… Most of them, that I recalled, had been born that way.

“I’m from a long line of witches,” I said. Maybe it was true? As I didn’t really know my parents, it could be true. So it wasn’t totally a lie.

The Alpha King narrowed his eyes. “Which pact?”

“Uh… the oldest one,” I said.

“The Moon Covenant?” he asked.

“Yes, that’s right,” I said, making everything up.

“I wasn’t aware they accepted any humans. Especially a long line of them.”

Okay, I was really blowing this. “It’s just… Well… You see…”

“Are you trying to protect your true coven?” the Alpha King asked.

“Yes, that’s exactly it,” I said.

Lifting a hand, he rubbed his forehead. “You really are a bad liar,” he said.

“I might not be lying,” I said.

The Alpha King frowned at me. “Are you even a witch?”

“Of course I’m a witch!” I said. “I’ve enchanted Damien and Jake!”

He hummed. “I don’t think you would need to be a witch to do that.”

My stomach started dropping. “You don’t believe me?”

“At first I did,” the Alpha King said. With a sigh, he moved to one of the other chairs and sat down in it. “Damien and Jake had always been loyal before, but their dedication to you has certainly lead them astray.”

“I’m sorry about that,” I said.

“Are you?”

“I just want them all to be safe.”

He hummed again. “That might be the first honest thing you’d said since you came in here.”

“Sorry…”

He brought his hand to his chin and stroked his chin. “You are protective of Damien and Jake.”

“Yes,” I said.
