**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 21**
**Amelia POV**
“How can you even consider believing her?” Sienna’s voice rose, sharp and incredulous. “You can’t be seriously buying into any of this nonsense!”
She stormed into the room, her parents instinctively shifting away from me to stand between us. I noticed Jake stepping further inside, positioning himself protectively in front of his sister, as if ready to shield her from whatever danger he perceived I posed.
Was she really contemplating an attack? The thought sent a shiver down my spine. I had not chosen the chaos that had unfolded, yet I understood her anger. She was right to be wary of the threat I represented, not just to her family but to the entire pack.
Before I could find the words to respond, Martin intervened, his voice resonating with authority and conviction. “That’s enough, Sienna. Can’t you see the state this poor woman is in? Would you truly send her back to that Alpha after everything he has done? Or worse, cast her out into the unforgiving woods? Is that the kind of heartlessness you want to embody?”
“But—Father…Mother?” Sienna’s eyes darted between her parents, desperation etched on her face.
“No, Sienna. Your father is absolutely right,” Lillian stated firmly, her gaze unwavering. “This kind of hateful behavior is simply unacceptable. Amelia deserves to be welcomed into our home with kindness and treated with the utmost care. That is non-negotiable.”
The weight of her words hung in the air, and I could see Sienna’s heart shatter before my eyes. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she fled the room, leaving behind a silence that felt heavy with unresolved tension.
In that moment, a wave of sympathy washed over me. I had inadvertently disrupted her entire world in just a few short hours. I resolved then and there that I would find a way to reach out to her, to apologize, to mend the rift that had formed between us.
Meanwhile, Jake’s parents had summoned a couple of werewolves who served their household.
“I’m sorry,” I ventured as we made our way down the hallway. “Have we met before?”
We paused, and both women exchanged glances before turning back to me.
“We haven’t,” Tara replied, her brow furrowing in thought. “But I must confess, there’s something about you that feels oddly familiar. Don’t you think so, Joan?”
Joan nodded in agreement, her expression thoughtful. “It’s true, I felt it the moment I laid eyes on you, Miss Amelia. It’s as if our paths have crossed before, or perhaps we’ve known each other for years.”
They shook their heads, intrigued by the mystery as they continued to lead me onward. Finally, we arrived at a doorway, and as I stepped inside, I was greeted by a stunning guest room. The high ceiling and wide plank flooring gave it an airy feel, while the large windows invited streams of natural light that illuminated the space. I noticed that the windows overlooked the lush expanse of the forest beyond, a serene view that promised solace.
