Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 253

**TITLE: Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 253**

**CONTENT: Chapter 253**

**Damien’s POV**

**Bonus**

Every time I received a directive from Jake, a rebellious spark ignited within me, urging me to resist. After all, I was an Alpha in my own right; he had no authority to impose his will upon me. The only one who could do that was the Alpha King himself.

Yet, as irritating as it was to concede to Jake’s demands, especially regarding my connection to Annette, I found myself in reluctant agreement. It was a bitter pill to swallow, allowing Jake to feel as if he had gained some sort of victory over me, but deep down, I recognized the validity of his concerns.

Suppressing my simmering anger, I declared firmly, “My heart belongs to Amelia, now and for all eternity. I have no desire to find a replacement.”

“Good,” Jake replied, a smirk playing on his lips, radiating a smug satisfaction that suggested he believed this was entirely his idea. “You should be aware that Annette is bound to Ian. Soon enough, they will be mated and married.”

“Is Annette aware of this?” I couldn’t help but probe, curiosity getting the better of me.

“She has consented to it,” he stated, his tone unyielding.

Ian, for all his monetary wealth and apparent status within Jake’s pack, might have seemed like a suitable match on paper. But those of us who truly knew him recognized the hollowness behind his charming facade. I had no doubt that he harbored no genuine affection for Annette; she would merely be another trophy, a glittering ornament to adorn his arm.

That audacious woman who had stood up to us in the hallway would be someone he would likely scorn. If Jake couldn’t see that, he was willfully blind. Was he truly so eager to marry off Annette that he was overlooking the glaring flaws in this arrangement? Pairing her with a man who would never truly appreciate her would lead to profound unhappiness.

If Jake genuinely cared for his sister, then surely he wouldn’t want her vibrant spirit to be diminished, or worse, extinguished.

“Ian is nothing but a pompous blowhard,” I stated bluntly. “He only cares about appearances. Why on earth would you want your sister to be with someone like him?”

Jake scoffed dismissively. “He may not be perfect, but Annette will be safe with him. She’ll be better off there than Amelia ever was with you. The odds of her survival are significantly higher.”

His words hit me like a physical blow, knocking the breath from my lungs. For a moment, which felt like an eternity, I stood there, utterly stunned.

I deserved every harsh word he threw at me. I had driven Amelia away, and because of my failures, I hadn’t been there to protect her when she needed me most.

Honestly, some days I felt as though my punishment was insufficient for the grave mistakes I had made. Each day without Amelia was a relentless torment, a reminder of my shortcomings.

“My daughters are my only priority now,” I asserted, more for my own benefit than his.

“Then keep them safe,” Jake replied, issuing more orders that only fueled my anger. But perhaps, as someone who had been close to Amelia, someone I had failed so deeply, he had the right to say such things. “I hope your daughter pulls through.”

I nodded, accepting his sentiment. Gods, I hoped so too. The thought of losing her was unbearable. What would I do if anything happened to her? Would I finally succumb to the madness that threatened to engulf me?

“I don’t know what agreements you’ve made with Claire,” Jake continued, his tone sharp. “But she had better not come near Annette. Or any of my family. If I see her again, Damien, I will kill her for what she did to Amelia.”

“I understand,” I replied, a mix of resignation and envy swirling within me. Jake was free from the constraints that bound me; he could defend Amelia’s honor while I was left to tarnish it.
