Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 26

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 26**

**Amelia POV**

As I inhale the cool evening air, a soft sigh escapes my lips, an involuntary reaction to the tranquility that envelops me. It astonishes me how, amidst the chaos that defines my life right now, I find a peculiar sense of contentment here. My mind races with the fear that Damien might burst through the door at any moment, dragging me back into the turmoil I desperately want to escape. Yet, paradoxically, I feel an undeniable sense of safety within the walls of Jake’s family home, a feeling I struggle to articulate.

“Things are so much different here,” I say, turning to Jake, who leans casually against the porch railing.

It’s hard to believe that three weeks have slipped by since I first arrived at his family’s residence. As I slowly mend from the physical wounds inflicted during the attack in the woods, I realize that my healing extends far beyond mere flesh.

“What do you mean?” Jake asks, his brow furrowing in curiosity. We’ve developed a comforting routine of sitting together on the porch each evening, sharing stories about our days or simply enjoying the quiet together.

I relish the way he effortlessly recounts the events of his day. Each tale he shares pulls me deeper into the fabric of the Deep River pack, filling in the gaps of my understanding. In stark contrast, Damien had always kept me in the dark, insisting that I shouldn’t concern myself with such matters. But Jake’s words weave a sense of belonging that I never experienced before.

“I just feel so safe here,” I reply, searching for the right words. “It’s as if the connection I share with you somehow extends to this entire place.”

The bond between us is a topic we often revisit, yet it remains shrouded in mystery. I have never fully severed my ties to Damien, and as far as I know, he hasn’t cast me aside either. How, then, could I find myself entwined with two fated mates?

“I can’t explain it either,” Jake admits, his gaze thoughtful. “But I sense it too. You just… belong here. Mom and Dad have picked up on it as well.”

My days have been filled with delightful moments—long conversations with Martin in his expansive, cozy study about everything from classic literature to the latest films, and my newfound routine of assisting Lillian in her stunning garden, which has blossomed into a cherished daily ritual.

But Sienna’s palpable dislike for me baffles me, and I find myself yearning to understand why. This morning, I resolve to make a concerted effort to connect with Jake’s sister, to bridge the chasm that exists between us. Perhaps, in time, we can forge a friendship.

I discover her in the library adjacent to Martin’s study, a breathtaking space adorned with towering bookshelves that stretch from floor to ceiling. I often come here to select new books, and each visit leaves me in awe of the room’s grandeur.

However, I’ve never encountered Sienna in this sanctuary before.

She sits at a table bathed in the soft glow of late morning sunlight streaming through the large windows. A collection of books lies in a haphazard stack beside her, and she is deeply engrossed in the one she holds, her brow furrowed in concentration.

“Hey, Sienna,” I say softly, stepping into the room, hoping to break the silence that hangs between us like an unspoken challenge.
