Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 30

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 30**

**Amelia POV**

It has been more than two weeks since that fateful encounter in the library with Sienna. The weight of guilt and anxiety often lingers on my shoulders, yet, paradoxically, I find an unexpected sense of comfort within these walls, surrounded by this family.

I struggle to articulate this feeling, even to myself, but here, in this home, I feel more authentically me than I ever have in any other place—even more so than when I was with my adoptive parents in the human realm. It’s as if I’ve stumbled upon a piece of myself that I thought was lost forever.

No matter how hard my conscience tries to argue with me, a quiet voice inside insists that I belong here.

As the aroma of breakfast fills the air and platters of food are passed around, the clattering of plates and the cheerful chatter of family envelop me like a warm embrace. I glance around the table, taking in the faces of those gathered.

At one end sit Lillian and Martin, my unexpected guardians, who welcomed me without a moment’s hesitation. Their warmth and kindness wrap around me like a comforting blanket, and it means the world to me.

Across from me sits Sienna, her demeanor as distant as ever. At times, she feels outright cruel, but even her icy presence cannot dim the flickering light of happiness that resides within me.

And then there’s Jake, sitting at the opposite end of the table. Our eyes meet, and he catches me watching him. He offers me a wink and a smile that sends a flutter through my chest. In the month and a half since my arrival, the bond between us has only deepened, leaving me curious and excited about what it all means.

Yet, as I ponder our connection, the question of what we will do about it lingers like an unsolved riddle in the back of my mind.

My smile falters as I overhear Damien’s name mentioned in conversation.

Martin is sharing news from another pack, his voice steady yet filled with concern. “Damien’s search has become increasingly bold,” he explains. “It’s almost erratic at this point. He’s been searching day and night, hardly giving himself a moment’s rest.”

A wave of nausea washes over me as I set my fork down and push my plate away. “I… I don’t know how to feel about that,” I admit, my voice trembling. “I never wanted to hurt my husband, and it pains me to hear that he’s suffering.”

A tumult of emotions swells within me. Despite everything—the chaos of discovering his secrets and the weight of his expectations—I’ve never stopped loving Damien. Yet, the sting of betrayal lingers, casting a shadow over my heart. I am determined to give our child the best life possible, even if it means severing ties with the man I once promised to stand by.

Sienna scoffs at the news, her voice dripping with disdain. “If he cares enough to search for you, why not just go back? Stop being so childish and dragging our pack into your messed-up relationship.”

Her words cut deep, and I stiffen, feeling the familiar sting of rejection. I’ve poured so much effort into trying to foster a civil relationship with Sienna, yet she continues to dismiss me. It echoes the treatment I received back home, surrounded by a pack that saw me as an outsider.

But this time, the tides shift. Jake and his parents rise to my defense, their support a balm to my wounded spirit.

“Amelia isn’t the childish one, Sienna,” Jake interjects, his voice firm and protective. “You know the situation is far more complicated than you’re making it out to be.”

“Absolutely,” Martin agrees, his tone resolute. “Amelia is welcome to stay in our home for as long as she needs. We believe that her decision to leave was the right one for her.”

“Well said,” Lillian adds, taking Martin’s hand and casting a warm smile in my direction. “Amelia is our guest, and she will always be welcome here.”

Gratitude swells in my chest, and I thank them both, relieved that I don’t have to face the prospect of returning to Damien or making the heart-wrenching choice to run away again. Yet, guilt lingers like a shadow, for Sienna had a point. I am asking a lot of them, not just of Jake and his parents but of the entire pack.
