Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 305

**Chapter 305**

“Allow me the pleasure of escorting you back to your vehicle,” I offered, hoping to lighten the mood.

Annette blinked slowly, her expression shifting from surprise to disappointment as she processed my words. “It’s quite a distance from here,” she replied, a hint of reluctance in her voice.

“I truly don’t mind,” I reassured her, trying to convey my sincerity.

She gave a small nod, her eyes briefly meeting mine before darting away, as if searching for something to say.

Our earlier conversation had been vibrant, filled with laughter and shared stories that danced in the air between us. But now, a heavy silence enveloped us, awkward yet oddly comforting. It was as if the unspoken words hung in the air, waiting for the right moment to be released. As we approached the boundary between Gray and Jake’s packs, I instinctively stayed on Gray’s side, my gaze drifting to Annette’s car, just beyond the invisible line that separated our worlds.

We exchanged glances, a moment of connection that felt charged with unexpressed emotions.

“Thank you for a wonderful night,” she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.

Once again, the urge to apologize surged within me, but I stifled it. We had both crafted a delicate façade of plausible deniability. If I drew attention to the tension simmering between us, it would only serve to highlight the possibility of rejection.

I wasn’t ready to confront that reality, especially not with Annette.

“Good night, Annette,” I replied, forcing a smile that I hoped didn’t betray my inner turmoil.

“Good night, Damien,” she echoed, her tone a mixture of warmth and uncertainty.

I watched her as she stepped across the pack lands boundary, her silhouette growing smaller as she climbed into her car. I lingered there, rooted to the spot, until she vanished from my sight, my heart heavy with unspoken words.

Once she was gone, and my senses were no longer honed in on her presence, I felt a shift in the air around me. There was someone lurking behind me, their stillness unsettling. Were they watching me?

A reporter, perhaps? Or something more sinister…

Still, the warmth of the evening lingered in my mind, overshadowing the awkward moment.

After a quick wash of my face and a change into comfortable clothes, I crawled into bed, exhaustion weighing heavily upon me. A shower would have been nice, but my body craved rest more than anything else.

It wasn’t long before I succumbed to sleep, my eyelids growing heavy.

In my dreams, I found myself in a sunlit park, seated on a checkered picnic blanket that felt soft beneath me. I was in the human realm, though I couldn’t quite place how I knew that. Beside me sat Damien, his hands rummaging through a picnic basket, pulling out sandwiches with a grin that was infectious.

“Thank you for going on this date with me, Amelia,” he said, his voice filled with genuine excitement. “I can’t express how much I’ve been looking forward to this.”

I blinked, grappling with the confusion that washed over me. I was aware this was a dream, yet the notion of being in the human realm felt so surreal. Why would Damien call me Amelia? The name echoed in my mind like a forgotten melody, stirring something deep within me.

As the dream unfolded, I could only wonder what it all meant.
