**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah 328**
**Chapter 328**
Sienna sat beside me in the office, her brow furrowed in concentration as she proposed ideas. “You know, Mom and Dad might be able to snag some supplies the next time they visit the kids,” she suggested, her voice laced with a hint of optimism.
I shook my head vehemently, dismissing her idea right away. “No way. I’m not dragging them into this mess,” I replied firmly, my tone leaving no room for negotiation.
Her expression shifted to a frown, disappointment flickering across her face.
As we continued to brainstorm potential solutions, my phone suddenly erupted with a shrill ring. I glanced at the screen, relieved to see a local number. I had no desire to hear Damien’s voice right now, regardless of his intentions. Taking a deep breath, I answered the call, steeling myself for whatever news awaited me.
“This is Alpha Jake,” I stated, trying to keep my voice steady.
“Alpha,” came the urgent voice of one of my enforcers. “You need to get to the border immediately.”
An icy chill crept down my spine, and my body instinctively tensed, preparing for the worst. “What’s the situation?” I asked, my heart racing.
“Alpha Damien is here, Sir. He’s threatening to cross over. He demands to speak with you.”
“Keep him back,” I growled, my irritation flaring. “I have no intention of talking to him.”
“Yes, Sir. But he claims it’s about Amelia. He says he has new evidence regarding the other conspirator.”
Damn him. Damn him for unearthing the one thing that could compel me to engage with him.
A headache began to throb at my temples as I rubbed my forehead, frustration mounting. “I’ll be there in ten minutes. Make sure he knows that he’s not crossing the border, but relay my message.”
After hanging up, I turned to Sienna, who was watching me intently, concern etched across her features.
“Damien has information about the third person involved in Amelia’s situation,” I explained, urgency lacing my words. “You need to stay here. The guards will ensure your safety.”
Her complexion paled, and I couldn’t blame her. This was monumental news, and depending on the identity of the culprit, it could alter everything we thought we knew. Perhaps we could finally put an end to this nightmare.
I left everything behind and rushed toward the border, my thoughts racing.
