Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 372

Chapter 372

For the first time, really, I started to feel like I was a good mother.

The moment Damien returned that even and spoke to the lead guard, his face went hard. I thought he might be proud too, but instead, he stormed toward me and said, “You promised me you wouldn’t leave the house.”

I blinked, surprised by the intensity of Damien’s reaction. “I just went to the school…”

“You could have called me,” Damien said.

“You were working. I wasn’t busy so it wasn’t a problem for me to go.”

“You promised me you would stay home.”

“Stacy needed me,” I said, entirely confused by this entire exchange. “I took some of the guards with me. I went and came back, everything is fine.”

This reasoning did little to calm Damien, who continued staring at me hard, a stern expression on his face. “You promised me…’

Again, I pressed, “I’m fine. It went okay, and I’m home now. I’m safe.”

To help emphasize this point, I stepped closer to him, walking right up into the safety of his arms. He encircled his embrace around me, and while I was against him, I finally felt some of the tension ease away from him.

“Stacy needed me,” I said.

“I know, I’m sorry,” he said. “I… lost my head…”

I was quiet for a moment, simply allowing and enjoying him holding me. But inside my mind, my suspicions continued to grow.

Something must have happened to make him so protective like this, didn’t it? Maybe that was somehow connected to my memory loss? I didn’t know, and every time I tried to ask him, he never gave me a straight

answer.

At this point, I genuinely didn’t know what to think anymore.

I could only trust him, and hoped that he would learn to trust me in time. I would try to accommodate him the best I could, but if one of the kids needed me especially, I had to be there for them. And by taking guards with me, I had made every precaution.

Whatever paranoia he was feeling with me, I hope it resolved soon.

Maybe the banquet would help him see me in a new light. Just as I wanted all of the packs to accept me as Alpha, I hoped Damien could accept me as capable.

Before I knew it, a few brief weeks later, it was the night of the banquet.

Everything had been meticulously planned, and so far it had all gone off without a hitch. As the guests were announced, I was there right beside Damien and the girls to greet everyone. We’d also hired a familiar nanny for the girls to help when they felt restless, which didn’t take long.

I wanted to make sure that I personally met everyone though. It was very important to me that everyone see me as I was now. In the past, I would have shied away, frightened like I didn’t belong, and leaving most of the talking to Damien.

Now, I constantly put myself forward, making sure everyone knew I was here and I was ready to be Luna. And, more so, I was capable enough to make this happen.

It wasn’t just because I had a wolf now. After all, my wolf was still dormant within me. Instead, I thought these changes might have been borne from the fact that I was a mother now. A mother of two strong, independent girls.
