Chapter 382
“I’d like to go to the hospital tomorrow,” Amella said. “I want to check on the child.”
Until now, I might have stepped in and either insisted I go with her or keep her at home. But, with Sienna and Claire both locked up in prison, I didn’t see any reason to refuse her.
With her worst enemies behind bars, Amelia should be safe now.
“That’s fine,” I said, and she nodded again. I held her close to me once more and didn’t let her go again for a long time. She held me back just as tightly.
Sienna’s POV
I’d already spent many days inside of this prison, yet it still hadn’t fully set in that I would be here the rest of my life. I wondered if it would ever really set in for me, that this was my lot in life now. At least, everything was on a scheduled routine, which I kind of liked.
There was something reassuring about predictable days. And I was still given books and writing utensils, so I could still read and write to my leisure.
My family had basically disowned me, with only my mom coming to visit every so often. Though when she did, all she did was cry the whole time. Which was more than she ever did while I had been out of prison. And the rest of the family hadn’t talked to me then either.
I knew I was grasping at straws, trying to make the best of things that were fairly miserable. But what choice did I have? This was my life, whether I liked it or not, and would be until I died.
I might as well make the most of it.
Most of the days in the jail were the same.
But then, early one morning, they brought in a new prisoned and placed her into the cell across from me. When I saw it was Claire, I laughed so hard my sides ached.
Claire glowered at me. “Have you lost your mind already? You haven’t been in here that long.”
“No, not yet,” I said, wiping my eyes. “I’m just amused they finally got you. You really did think you were above it all, didn’t you? Now you are here, just like me.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Claire snapped. “I’m nothing like you.”
I shook my head at her and rolled over on my bed. She’d see soon enough. There was no hope in this place.
The guards left us then, their footsteps disappearing down the hallway. Once they through the door, it closed behind them with a loud thud.
“Things are different out there now,” Claire said, when we were mostly alone. There were other prisoners, but from my experience, everyone stuck to themselves in here and didn’t bother anyone else.
“I don’t care what Annette is up to,” I said.
“Annette doesn’t exist,” Claire said. “She had another reset. Now, she can’t remember the past six years at all. Apparently, she woke up thinking she was still pregnant. She didn’t remember ever leaving Damien or the pack.”

“I’m guessing Damien and Jake aren’t telling her the truth?” I asked, hating that I was curious. News was pretty slim in here. Juicy gossip was a commodity.
“If course not,” Claire said. “They don’t want her to know what they’ve done. But we know, and we can use it against them -”
