Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 412

Chapter 412

Amelia’s POV

I woke up the next morning still on the couch. I’d tried to stay awake, waiting for Damien to come home. That I was still on the couch likely meant that he never arrived. Surely, he would have wakened me or carried me to bed rather than leave me sleeping here.

Ug, I had such a creak in my neck. As I stood, I stretched my neck back and forth, trying to work out the kinks.

If Damien never came home, then he must have been out all night, likely continuing on with his hunt. I hoped he was okay. Things must have been bleak for him to not even want to rest.

In addition to the worry I felt for him, I was also filled with annoyance and upset all of my own. I hated feeling this helpless. I wanted to do more than just sit here out of the way, but Damien wouldn’t accept my help. What could I really do anyway? Without being able to shift, I would only get in the way. Or slow everyone down.

Well, at least, I could help keep the girls calm. The first thing I needed to do in that case was shower and change into new clothes, so they wouldn’t know that I had sat up all night and never gone to bed.

With my new goals set, I left the living room and turned toward the stairs.

That was where I found Stacy and Amy, both asleep, curled up near the bottom of the stairs.

Seeing them, my heart cracked. Had they been waiting up for Damien just as I had? Did their exhaustion finally win out and force them asleep even as they tried to stay awake to greet him on his return?

Gently, I reached down and placing a hand on each of their shoulders, shook them awake.

“Stacy. Amy. Go on to bed,” I said.

The girls both rubbed the sleep from their eyes.

“I’m not tired,” Stacy said stubbornly.

“Daddy’s not home yet,” Amy added.

“It’s already morning,” I told them. “But you can get some sleep for a couple more hours. It’s early. I’ll call your tutors and not have them come until the afternoon.”

Stacy yawned. “I’m really not tired, Mom.”

I couldn’t help but smile at her stubbornness. “Humor your mother, alright? Just get a couple of hours sleep in an actual bed.”

Stacy lowered her head, “Yeah, okay.”

Amy was already moving up the stairs.

“Don’t worry, girls,” I told them, trying to be optimistic for their sake. “I’m certain everything will go back to normal soon.”

They moved like their limbs weighed a hundred pounds each. Neither really responded to me. I wondered if they just didn’t believe me.

1/2

I didn’t really believe myself.

For Claire and Sienna to have evaded capture for this long meant already meant that they had the kind of help that could keep them on the run for years if not forever.
