Chapter 447
Amelia’s POV
I was absolutely thrilled to have my parents visiting. The girls and I were definitely going stir-crazy at this point, and though Damien had promised that he would escort me outside of the house every now and then, he had yet to return home since making that promise.
He was avoiding me on purpose. I was sure of it. But he didn’t even stay on the phone with me long enough for me to accuse him of anything.
Still, after inviting my parents, I did try to call him and let him know, but it was the same old story.
“I don’t have time to talk, I’m sorry. I’ll call you later.”
“Sure,” I said and hung up. I just didn’t believe him anymore.
I wasn’t alerted when my parents arrived. I was simply in the living room when I heard raised voices from the front door. Heading there, I was immediately blocked by one of the guards who stepped directly into my path, keeping me from the door.
“I think I hear my parents out there,” I said.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but there’s no visitors allowed,” he replied.
My annoyance heightened. “These aren’t visitors, they are my parents, and they were invited. Besides that, they are the former Alpha and Luna of Jake’s pack, who are our allies. They should be treated with respect.”
“I’m sorry, ma’am,” the guard said again. His face wasn’t without sympathy but his words and conviction were strong. “Alpha Damien’s command left no room for interpretation. No one is to cross this threshold except for the guards and the Alpha himself. And there are to be no exceptions.”
I wasn’t mad at him, and I hoped he know that. I made a mental note to later apologize to this guard for the fury I was feeling in this moment.
For now though, it was with a sneer that I pulled out my phone. “I will call him right now and he will allow this.”
I didn’t care how many times he tried to get off the phone with me this time. I would keep calling until my parents were allowed to come in and see me and their grandchildren.
The phone rang and rang before Damien finally answered.
“Amelia, I’m sorry. I’m too busy to

“Forget it,” I said quickly. “My parents are here to see me and your guards won’t let them through the door.
Damien was quiet for a moment. I nearly started to repeat myself when he spoke up. “You didn’t tell me they were visiting.”
“I’m not sure when I would have had the chance to,” I said. “You aren’t doing much listening these days.” I was attempting to keep my voice carefully neutral but I was certain that my annoyance was slipping through.
Damien and I were mates. We were supposed to be a team. I thought we had truly made a breakthrough during our last serious sit-down talk with each other, where we finally made a compromise.

At least, I had thought we did.
Damien, it seemed, was backing out of that now. I wondered if he ever had any desire to actually see that compromise through, or if he had known he wouldn’t let me leave this house from the start.
But to not allow my parents to visit was just too much, too far. He needed to correct this right now, or I wouldn’t be able to stay calm anymore.
“You should have found a way to tell me,” Damien said.
