Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 457

Chapter 457

Amelia’s POV

I could feel through the bond that Damien was coming closer, likely stalking up behind me, ready to put a stop to this moment. I was still annoyed with him and didn’t want to have to deal with him right now. This man seemed harmless enough. What was the danger in having one dance?

“Thank you,” I told the man. “I’d like to dance.”

The man smiled, then tugged me forward, closer to the band where the music was easier to hear.

“Amelia,” Damien said. I glanced back at him just in time to see that same servant who had been holding the champagne, trip and spill the entire contents of her tray all over Damien. He was absolutely soaked in champagne, and that was the last I saw of him as the other man led me to where a few others had starting dancing.

Turning toward me, the man pulled me into his arms. The band started a new song, and we began to dance. His motions were a bit stiff, but he was a very good dancer technically. He led me through some of the more complicated steps.

“I was hoping we would be able to dance like this again,” he said.

“Have we danced like this in the past?” I asked him. I still didn’t recognize him, but the feeling of familiarity remained. I was hoping he could fill me in on more of the details so that I could remember just how we knew each other.

“Not as often as I would have liked,” he said.

I hummed, slightly off-put by the vagueness of that statement. What it did reveal didn’t make me feel very good about what was happening here. The underlying question lingered… Why hadn’t we danced as much as he would have liked?

Would I have liked to dance more?

Though he was being friendly, and his hands were in respectful places on my waist, I was starting to feel uneasy. There was an edge to his words and to his eyes that made me feel slightly uncomfortable.

I wasn’t sure why, but I was starting to feel like if we really did know each other in the past, maybe we weren’t on as good of terms as I had originally thought.

I tried to repress that feeling, though. Since I couldn’t remember, I didn’t know for sure, and the last thing I wanted to be was rude to a guest here at this banquet.

“We would have probably danced more if your family hadn’t tried to humiliate my own,” the man said.

I stilled in my dancing, but his hands on my waist forcibly pushed and pulled me to keep me moving. After a moment, I began moving again, because having him move me felt like I was a doll he was just toying with.

“What did you say your name was again?” I asked.

He looked at me, and those eyes…

I felt like I knew those eyes…

In a flash, I saw a figures standing outside on the sidewalk, while I was inside watching him through the

window.

The face wasn’t the same, but I couldn’t shake the horrible feeling that this man was somehow tied to the man who had been my stalker.

What was his name?

Ian.

“You don’t recognize me?” the man asked. “Oh, I suppose you wouldn’t while I’m wearing this strange face. My eyes are the same, though. Can you see? Do you remember?”

I swallowed hard, then said the name I suspected, “Ian.”

He smiled. “So you do recognize me? I knew you cared.”

I tried to pull away from him, but his hands on my hips held a vice-grip.

“You wouldn’t want to go anywhere, would you, Annette?” he said.

“I’m Amelia,” I said.

He hummed, not convinced. “Whatever you want to call yourself doesn’t change a thing to me.’

“Let me go,” I said. “Or I’ll scream.’

Fear was starting to rise up within me. A moment ago, I wanted to be away from Damien, but now I wanted nothing more than to have him nearby.

“No, you won’t,” Ian said. “Because I’m working with Claire and Sienna, and they are both here.”

“That’s more reason to scream.”

He paused a moment, then his grin took on an edge. “Do you have any idea how easy it would be for them to hurt your daughters? You had better do as I say, or those little girls won’t make it through the night.”

My stomach flipped and I thought I might be sick. It was only the sheer amount of fear inside of me, unwilling to bring attention to myself in case it led to my daughters being hurt, that I was able to hold down my sickness.

“Follow me,” Ian said, and began to lead me toward the servant’s doors, all while continuing this dance.

I didn’t feel like I had a choice, so I went with him. I couldn’t allow my children to be hurt.

Ian led me through the servants’ doors, and then quickly through a series of hallways until we were outside where the delivery vans and servants’ cars were parked.

There, three other women were waiting for us. I didn’t recognize their faces, but knowing that Ian had the means to change his face, I was sure two of these women were Claire and Sienna.

“I can’t believe this is the plan that actually worked,” one of them said.

“It’s not over yet,” said another. “Get her in the van.

One of them opened the door to the back of a white delivery van, while lan pushed me closer to it.

Unsure what was going to happen to me, but knowing it would be terrible, I closed my eyes and cried out through the mating bond that even now still tied me to my mate.

Damien! Help me!

Damien’s POV

I was covered in champagne, my shirt soaked through. Somehow that server had managed to spill every drop of every glass from the entire tray directly onto me. A servant had brought me a towel, and even told me where to find a room to change, but I wasn’t going to leave the ballroom without Amelia by my side.

Yet, after dabbing myself with the towel, and looking out over the dance floor, I was alarmed to find that Amelia was gone.

Tossing the towel aside, I stormed forward, right into the middle of the floor, causing several dancing couples to skid to a stop.
