Chapter 462
The man paused. “Very well. Follow us.”
The man turned. Ruth fell into step right behind him with the rest of us shuffling along behind her. The other guards seemed to circle around us as we all moved forward. The leader went deeper and deeper into rogue territory.
I was nervous, but Ruth seemed confident. I didn’t have much choice but to trust her. It was very possible she was leading us all out here to have us killed by her rogue friends, but it wasn’t like I could just go back. With Jake stabbed like that, he was probably dead.
A punishment of death would await me in any pack I returned to now. I didn’t think I’d be able to weasel my way out of it this time.
Eventually, we reached what seemed to be a small town. We were led to the largest building there, with the lights on in the front.
Going inside, I blinked a few times as my eyes adjusted.
We were ushered into what appeared to be a meeting room, though there were no tables or chairs. Instead, a few advisors seemed to be speaking with the older man standing at the end of the room.
As he looked back at us, he seemed perplexed. “What have you brought me?”
Then his gaze fell upon Ruth.
“My love!” he said, and rushed closer. Ruth moved too, and soon the couple clung onto each other, even kissing lightly.
As my vision finally adjusted to the new light, I could see that this man had to be some kind of leader, the way everyone else was treating him with reverence. And they must have recognized Ruth too, because they seemed more pleased than surprised, unlike the rest of us.
Yet, looking at this man… I had to do a double take, constantly looking between him and Sienna.
They had so many features that were similar.
Truly, there could be no question.
This man, whoever he was, had to be Sienna’s father.
I watched the scene with my mouth closed, not willing to call attention to how similar Sienna looked to this rogue leader. It was information I was filing away in my mind, but I wasn’t ready to play my cards yet and show just how much I had caught on to what was happening here.
Ian, however, was a man who lacked tact. No sooner did I decide to keep my mouth shut, then he announced to everyone standing there, “You look just like Sienna! Are you her father?”
The man pulled back from his affectionate embrace with Ruth, to glance at each of us, finally settling his gaze on Sienna. Both he and Sienna took a good look at each other, with each pair of eyes growing wide.
“Ruth?” the man asked, though didn’t break his gaze from Sienna.

“I wanted to tell you, Richard,” Ruth said. “Many times. But It never seemed like the right moment.”
