Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 59

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**
**Chapter 59**

“Amelia…”

The air thickened with the weight of my words, her name hanging there, heavy and charged, like a dark storm cloud poised to burst. A familiar fatigue washed over me, a creeping dread that signaled the start of yet another round in our seemingly endless conflict. This wasn’t the kind of conversation I had envisioned when I answered the call. I was still nursing the wounds from our last encounter, yet I knew I had to redirect the course of this dialogue.

“Please, Damien. Don’t make me beg. Just let Dr. Wyatt come here and treat me. Please.” Her voice trembled, a delicate mix of desperation and resolve that tugged painfully at my heart.

“You don’t have to beg, Amelia.” My voice was steady, yet beneath its firmness lay a current of something softer, a yearning that made my heart ache for her.

“I feel like I do,” she shot back, her frustration cutting through the air like a knife. “You keep insisting I go there, but you won’t even consider the idea of her coming here.”

“I only want what’s best for you,” I insisted, my voice unwavering, though it lacked the warmth I wished I could convey.

“I’m telling you what’s best for me,” she countered, her fierce determination igniting a fire within me. “I am a person with my own desires and needs, Damien. You may be the Alpha of your pack, and you might know what’s best for it, but that doesn’t mean you know what’s best for me. A marriage is supposed to be a partnership, yet you dismiss my feelings entirely.”

A heavy sigh escaped my lips, laden with the weight of my own frustrations. I braced myself for the rejection I feared was coming, but to my surprise, I found myself relenting. “Fine. Dr. Wyatt can cross the border, but she will do so with an entourage. I don’t trust Jake not to steal more of my people.”

Relief flooded through Amelia like a tidal wave, almost overwhelming in its intensity. “Thank you,” she breathed, the tension in her shoulders easing slightly, though I could sense the undercurrents of her lingering anxiety.

“Do not misunderstand, Amelia. I believe this is a mistake on your part,” I warned, my voice taking on a serious tone. “But… I’ve never been good at denying you.”

His words felt like a confession, tinged with a warmth that I dared not cling to. I was acutely aware of the depth of his feelings for me, but I also recognized that his understanding of love wasn’t necessarily healthy. Perhaps mine wasn’t either.

“One day, likely sooner than you think, you will realize the folly of this request,” I continued, my voice steady, though I felt the tremor of uncertainty beneath it. “You will return to this pack, to my side. We will be a happy family.”

The image of a family composed of Damien, myself, Claire, and our child sent a chill down my spine. No, thank you.

“I appreciate you allowing Dr. Wyatt to come. I need to go now.”

Extending this conversation further would serve no purpose. I was certain that no matter what I said, Damien wouldn’t see my perspective. The culture of werewolves was so different from that of humans. To him, having a child with another for the good of the pack was probably a common occurrence.

I would never be able to accept it that way.

“Amelia, wait,” Damien called out just as I was about to disconnect the call. I hesitated, not responding, but when he didn’t hear the dial tone, he likely assumed I was still listening. In a softer tone, he asked, “How are you? Really?”
