**CONTENT: Chapter 96**
**Damien’s POV**
A girl. We were having a little girl! The realization sent a wave of exhilaration through me, and my wolf stirred restlessly within, eager to leap into action.
In my enthusiasm, I leaned in closer to Amelia, who was gazing back at me with a radiant smile that mirrored my own joy. Her eyes sparkled with a raw, unfiltered hope that nearly knocked the breath from my lungs.
She was searching for something from me, perhaps acceptance?
How could she not see it? How could she not know that she already had my unwavering support? That I was genuinely thrilled about the arrival of our little girl?
But maybe she didn’t. Maybe this was the crux of our past misunderstandings. I had failed to communicate my feelings and intentions clearly, leaving her to grapple with what she perceived as hidden truths. To me, they were simply thoughts I hadn’t deemed necessary to voice.
But this—this was different. This was monumental. I needed her to understand just how deeply I cared for our child, even if she wasn’t fully aware of it yet.
I gently placed my hand over Amelia’s, where it rested on the bed, feeling the warmth radiate from her skin. For a brief moment, she tensed, but then she relaxed under my touch. I made sure to keep my grip light, ensuring she felt free, never constrained or trapped by my affection.
“I couldn’t be happier,” I declared, my voice brimming with sincerity.
A look of relief washed over Amelia’s face, and I felt a surge of warmth in my chest.
“In fact,” I continued, buoyed by her reaction, “I think we should name her after you.”
Her cheeks flushed a delicate pink, and she shook her head, a playful smile tugging at her lips. “Oh, no. That would be far too confusing.”
“Fathers name their sons after themselves all the time. Shouldn’t it make sense for a mother to do the same?” I countered, a teasing lilt in my voice.
“Maybe,” she replied thoughtfully, “but I’m not sure I would like it.”
I hummed in contemplation. I could argue this point later; for now, I was content to let it slide. After all, we had ample time before our baby arrived to settle on the perfect name.
