Ran Away Pregnant Came Back Alpha Heiress (Amelia and Damien) novel Chapter 95

**Night Whispers Forgotten Names – Colin Shah**

**Chapter 95**

As Eve turned her attention to Dr. Wyatt, assisting her in getting ready for the upcoming appointment, my thoughts drifted to Damien, who was waiting just beyond the door. A mix of anxiety and anticipation coursed through me as I imagined him standing there, his presence a constant reminder of the turmoil that had enveloped our lives.

If it hadn’t been for Damien’s timely intervention, Sienna might have escaped the consequences of her deceitful actions. My reputation had already suffered greatly due to her previous misdeeds—if she had the audacity to forge those documents, it was entirely plausible that she had also tampered with the prescription! The very thought sent a chill down my spine, and I couldn’t help but shudder at what might have transpired had I not caught that critical discrepancy about the patients before the surgery commenced.

Despite my best efforts to keep a healthy distance from him, I couldn’t deny Damien’s pivotal role in restoring my name. The complexity of my feelings for him was something I was still grappling with, attempting to bury those emotions deep within myself once again. It was a struggle, one that left me feeling both conflicted and vulnerable.

After a brief moment of contemplation, I swung my legs off the examination bed and stood up. The sterile scent of the room filled my nostrils as I prepared to face the reality waiting outside.

“Amelia?” Dr. Wyatt’s voice broke through my thoughts, pulling me back to the present.

“Just a minute,” I replied, my voice steady despite the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside me. I walked over to the door and carefully opened it, revealing Damien standing there, his back turned to me as if he were guarding the threshold against whatever lay beyond.

As the door creaked open, he turned to face me, his expression a mix of concern and anticipation.

“Come in, Damien,” I invited, my heart racing. “Come and see our child.”

A flicker of hope ignited within me, mingled with trepidation. I prayed that I wasn’t making a grave mistake by allowing him this glimpse into our lives. What if he still wanted to ‘take care’ of the baby in ways I wasn’t prepared for?

Yet, he had done so much for me today. Perhaps, after all the thoughtful gifts he had bestowed upon me, he didn’t harbor as much resentment toward the baby as I had feared. Maybe there was a chance for us to navigate this co-parenting journey together, even if the romantic aspects of our relationship remained unresolved. Or was I simply succumbing to my own vulnerability, yearning for his presence after everything that had transpired?

“Here,” he said, extending a small package toward me. “With everything that’s been happening, I almost forgot I had this.”

“Thank you,” I replied, accepting the gift with a mix of gratitude and apprehension. “You know you really don’t have to do this.”

He chose not to respond to that, instead urging me, “Open it.”

As I peeled back the wrapping, I discovered a beautifully crafted set of wooden blocks, each one lovingly made for our baby to play with.

“They are handmade,” he explained, pride evident in his voice.
